Subject: Politics of 2018: Closer to 2016 or 2020?

Kind of like the “music: closer to x or x” thread except now it’s about politics. With Obama still being president in 2016 and the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, which do you think 2016 is more similar to?

Overall, politics in 2018 are still closer to 2020, because 2018 like 2020 is the Trump era. Nothing more to it. 2016 was just the transition. My opinion on this isn't dictated by the coronavirus pandemic.

This year, politics have been heavily affected by the pandemic, as the usual cycle of debates, controversy, and campaign rallies that follow November elections is altered unlike anything we've seen in our lifetimes. There's a controversy over in-person vs. mail-in voting, but even then, things aren't the same. So I'm going for 2016. At least most Americans moved about.

2016, because I feel like in 2018 we were kinda trying to get over the fact that Trump was president.
