Overall, 2019 was a pretty bland year. Just a more watered down version of 2017 and 2018. The real changes are all going to happen next year, although a few have already happened. I can see this year as being the end to the cultural 2010s, and if not it will definitely end by late 2020 with the release of the 9th gen consoles, and the election.

I think the real changes won't happen until 2021. I imagine 2020 will be an improved version of 2019, if such a thing is possible. It will be more like on 2018's level as far as pop culture goes. It's just hopeful thinking because the summer Olympics years are usually fun and exciting, but then again 2016 was a huge letdown.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one that believes that 2019 was a bland year. When I wear my metaphorical "rose colored nostalgia glasses" 10 years from now, I'll probably not remember the year being memorably good.

Certainly, even over the last few weeks, some personalities here in the UK have made a mess of they career status, and will be spending the new year under different circumstances.
