Subject: Comcast moves TCM to sports package
Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 10/12/19 at 5:45 pm
Comcast has moved TCM (Yes, Turner Classic Movies) to their sports (!) package, and removing it from existing packages. (This leaves me in the dust, too.) Is this some kind of fudgeing joke?
Hundreds, if not thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of customers are furious. Two petitions have been started on Change.org.
TCM is one of my favorite channels. I'd rather lose any of the sports channels, QVC, HSN, Food Network, Lifetime, VH1, etc. Why would I want to pay for a bunch of channels and watch a bunch of guys I don't know play a sport I don't understand just so I can watch old movies I'd probably never get a chance to see/hear of otherwise?
I hope Comcast loses customers over this asinine decision.

I’m still frosted over them moving SpikeTV to a premium package.
I can’t watch Bar Rescue anymore. :\'(

We recently lost Cinemax, too. Conventiently around the time Rutger Hauer died, and they were the only channel that had The Hitcher.

Over the past few years I had to change my television provider, and the one I have now is a basic provider which has the main channels, and a few more, and as I watch less television now, I does not matter much to me. Also, the provider I have is free!

Dont say that too loudly bud!
One time in the 80s I was on the CB (I forgot what channel) and some guy was telling us how he had had free cable in his house for along time... (They forgot to disconnect it)
THE NEXT DAY THEY CAME AND DISCONNECTED IT!!!
Someone must have heard him that worked for the cable company or someone who didnt like the guy and reported it heard him........

Damn, how am I supposed to get my middling and B-level Golden Age movies now?
I’m honestly not going to miss TCM much. Far better classic movies are easily available at my local library for free. TCM rarely puts on the real greats of that era.

You can always watch them online if you wanted to.

Thank goodness I don’t have Comcast in my area because TCM is my favorite channel. Especially TCM underground because I’m a sucker for oddball b-horror and grindhouse artsy type stuff. I tend to like the late 1960s-early 1980s “new Hollywood” era films the most.

Yeah, that's kind of strange but I'm in a Comcast/XFinity district and I've heard complaints about them since, God, 10+ years now.
So this does not faze me on any level. I keep telling people (mostly older co-workers and friends of family) to cut the cable chord. My uncle already has YEARS ago, and it's working out well for him.

Now, they're whacking Starz/Encore in December. >:(
I was already considering my options today, and I was considering YouTube TV. There are channels Comcast has that YTTV doesn't that I don't wanna part with (TeenNick, MeTV, Antenna TV, GSN), but the magic of YTTV is that you don't need to switch providers. The only channels on YTTV I really care about (other than what Comcast currently has) are TCM and horror streaming service Shudder. Now it looks like I can add Starz/Encore to my wish list and justify the $50 (plus whatever additional fee Shudder is, and the cost of whatever streaming device -- I'm considering Chromecast).
Comcast clearly values sports over movies.

Just buy yourself a regular 80's television set and put up the rabbit ears.

My TV is still a tube-style screen. I’ll see if I can find some rabbit ears on eBay.

Do you ever flip through the channels and find that there's nothing to watch?
