What is your opinion of how 2019 compares to 2018, 2017, and maybe late 2016?

I'm not a big fan. 2018 was definitely the best out of the late 10's years, especially the second half. 2019 has been similar 2017 in that most of the music and culture in general has been generic and mediocre. 2017 was slightly better though. In my personal life, 2019 has been one of those in which almost nothing has worked out the way I wanted/planned.

2019 honestly wasn’t the best, but it was better than 2018. I still think 2017 is the best late ‘10s year.

Well, I like my job this year and I have a beautiful daughter. I'm really tuned out of today's pop culture, though I've enjoyed a fair number of the movies that have come out. On the other hand, the fear and anger from 2016 has not yet abated.

2018 was the best late 2010s year. 2017 was the worst, not very memorable.

2018 was much better. 2017 I lost my Dog and Uncle and in 2019 I lost my Aunt in April and another Uncle in June.  :\'(

I've only consciously lived through two 9s of a decade and both were vividly changeful. I would go as far as describing 99 as intoxicating. 19 feels very different from 99 and 09. Whatever transition we're going through is very smooth.  All the things that made the late 2010s late 2010s seem more dampened down this year with very little innovation or change to give us a vivid preview of the decade ahead.

Let me go back a little bit on my previous posts...
I've frequently heard of multiple teen subcultures, personas,  and cliques developing lately. In 2017 and 18, it looked like some teens were developing their own significantly different gen z thing but in 2019 all that seems to have died down. But then again, I'm a "boomer" so what do I know?

I have also noticed that there's been some movement on the bedroom pop scene these last couple of years and a lot of people have been saying that it is the next big thing but I recognize it for what it really is. Bedroom Pop is just gen z's version of indie and I doubt it'll become more than that.

On a personal level, 2019 has been a toilet year. The year 2017 has been miles better than both 2018 and 2019 combined for me. This year has thrown nothing but bulls**t after bulls**t toward me and it's getting old.

Actually...I think this girl who works at my favorite pizza place would be could be considered an egirl. I just thought she was a gen Z goth.

Early 2019 was the best part of 2019 for me, but still nowhere near as good as 2017 (which is my favorite late 2010’s year) and early 2018. Late 2019 so far is just a less boring version of June-August 2019.

As for pop culture, Lil Nas X pretty much saved music for me this year. I still prefer 2017 in a heartbeat, both personally and pop culturally.

I remember you saying how you bored you were last summer. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.  Early 2019 was fun since it was around the time I was finally getting into Fortnite, and made tons of friends off that game. Mid-19 was hard because I didn't get to travel for the summer and I had to witness my mom passing away. Late 2019 should be better since I'm in a new state (just moved from my little town in NC to Jacksonville FL with my aunt). Late 2017-Early 2018 was like the best time for me this whole decade.

Same here, personal-life wise. 2018 and 2019 were pretty garbage for my personal life and mental health. I'm hoping 2020 will be an improvement, I am optimistic. 

All this year was Trump this and Trump that!  ::)

I feel like the last song I really enjoyed was "Starving" by Hailee Steinfeld, and that was late 2016.

It's been awful for me, and it will get better this upcoming month with a new job and meditation, but it will be too late to redeem its overall scale.

Damn, it seems this year brought you all terrible times. I hope next year gets better for all of us. I want to start the upcoming decade on a positive note.
