A sequel to 1980s smash hit Top Gun will be hitting the silver screen in 2020. And the casting will bring back Tom Cruise as Maverick, and Val Kilmer will reprise his role as Ice Man.

However, no such casting invitation was sent to heartthrob Kelly McGillis, :-\\ as the love interest role has been cast with the lovely Jennifer Connolly.  :-*

In 2009 there was a horrid flick titled Porky's Pimpin' Pee Wee 8-P which was a lame effort at a “remake” of the original Porky’s. Die hard Porky’s fans do not recognize it as a legitimate part of the franchise.

Porky's 4? That could happen but what could the dialogue be about? How did Porky's 3 end? I could see them making a sequel for the 35th anniversary in 2020.

Wow! Most Americans today don’t even know of any actor you mentioned but Kim Cattral!  :o

The question is, why is "Top Gun" being remade at all? It was the ultimate Reagan-era 80s jingoistic movie. I can't think of anything more of it's time. It's only saving grace was how fantastic everybody looked in it. Now Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer are old men and the world has moved on to other things.

Is it a remake or a sequel?

I thought the ultimate Reagan-era 80s jingoistic movie was “First Blood” or “Rambo: First Blood Part II”. Rambo was all over the place in the Reagan years. There were even toys. I’m not making this up.

I don’t think Tom Cruise or Val Kilmer can make a comeback with a 21st century “Top Gun” movie. The first “Top Gun” was important to that time (the 80s and early 90s ). 90s nostalgia is becoming mainstream anyway. Why couldn’t this “Top Gun” film been released in the 2000s or earlier in the 2010s? Ridiculous.
