The same reason for British actor play villains in Hollywood films?
btw, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, in three "Batman" films.

It's because that's how movies work and they are actors.
Hugh Jackman is Australian and he played the X-Men character of Wolverine, who is Canadian in the comics.
Also, they are fictional comic book superheroes, it's really not that big of a deal.

You need the best actors in the WORLD (not just U.S. only) to portray the right characters properly and professionally. It's not really a British thing. There's a lot of different accents you hear.
