Yeah, 2018/19 has been dark. Most forgettable part of the 2010s. Otherwise, 2010s isn't all that bad, better than living in the 1940s.

2011: Changes have happened, so welcome to the ultra-futuristic world! (8/10)
2012: The end of the world is near so let's have a party! (9/10)
2013: The end of the world didn't happen so let's reinvent culture instead! (8/10)
2014: Time to think about the kids and the tweens so let's have a low-brow culture! (5/10)
2015: Time to think about the adults so let's have a much grittier culture! (8/10)
2016: A complete disaster that shouldn't have happened (3/10)
2017: It's scary now, so let's be as quirky as possible to forget! (6/10)

Unlike many people on here I didn't hate 2016. It was decent for me. But I did think some other years were better as you can probably tell by my post!

(I have some bias towards 2017 (probably not seeing all that's wrong with it), because it's when I finally got out of high school.)

2010: 10/10 - Emohood was still strong. Megamind was great.
2011: 10/10 - Emohood still in good standing. Rock music is great, just like 2010.
2012: 9/10 - Avant-Garde music seems to be cropping up. The Emo peoples are still mostly accepted.
2013: 2/10 - Crash!!! Did I... Just get into a wreck? (EVERYTHING is getting worse. I'm not talking about a literal crash.)
2014: 1.8/10 - Forgettable
2015: 1.4/10 - -_-..... *pissed off breathing noises*
2016: 1/10 - B*ST*RDS! B*ST*RDS EVERYWHERE! TRUST NOONE!
2017: 3/10 - Whatever
2018: 0/10 - Problems of 2016 cranked up to 11. Someone rescue me!
2019: 1/10 - Oh, no god... FINALLY. It's ending. It's finally ending... I think. Rescue me...

2010 - 7/10. Pretty good year overall. Road trip in Central Japan, visited Miami and China
2011 - 8/10. "Every day I'm shufflin'", lol. Fun year, transferred to Italy, and visited England, Germany, Prague, and Romania. Had some bad luck during my travels.
2012 - 9/10. Probably my favorite year of the decade. Traveled even more, and got engaged. My work situation was the only thing keeping it from a 10.
2013 - 4/10. Downhill year. Broke off the engagement. Otherwise the first half was decent. From June it really went downhill.
2014 - 2/10. Baaaaaaaad year! Continuation of late 2013. Waking up every morning knowing my day was going to be miserable. Lost weight from stress and anxiety. Some good music and improvement in the later months kept it from being 1/10.
2015 - 7/10. Better year. Went on deployment with my ship and got to go to some cool places like Israel. Got married to my current wife.
2016 - 5/10. Many good memories, but the events and deaths in my family put a damper in it.
2017 - 6/10. Also had better years. This one was kind of dull. The last quarter was better after retiring from the Navy.
2018 - 8/10. Very laid-back year with nice memories. Enjoyed retirement and living in Georgia.
2019 - 6/10. Also pretty chill, but had financial issues. The pop-culture was pretty bland.

*If I can include 2020 I'd give that a 1/10. The music is the only thing keeping it from being 0/10 (or maybe 0.5). Every year of the 2010's looks better by comparison.

The highlights:

2010-Was dealing with hormones that were out of whack-BIG TIME. Two trip to Puerto Rico. Step-son got married and first grandson (grandkid #5) was born. Saw Pat Benatar/REO Speedwagon and Bryan Adams in concert.

2011-Two trips to Puerto Rico. One wasn't that great and the other was so much better. A trip to Conn to visit sisters.

2012-Lost my dad & FIL ON THE SAME DAY!!! :\'( :\'( Two trips to D.C. One to take care of my dad and the other to clean out his house. Granddaughter #5 & Grandson #2 were born (grandkids #6 & #7). Trip to Maine to buy camper van.

2013-Big birthday party. Lost my mother. :\'( Bought my beautiful house. First camping trip in van to Maine and took a cross country camping trip in the van. Trip to Puerto Rico (to bury FIL)

2014-Moved and spent most of the year unpacking, buying things for the house (curtains, furniture, bedding, towels, etc.) and finishing up my first children's book for the grandkids. Our BIG Christmas celebration at the new house.

2015-Trip to Puerto Rico which wasn't that great. Had house painted. Yard sale. Camping trip in van to New Hampshire. Camping trip in van to Massachusetts.

2016-Carlos' big birthday party. New car. Trip to Puerto Rico Trip to Conn. to visit sisters. Two yard sales.

2017-Trip to Puerto Rico. Granddaughter #6 (grandkid #8) born. Had bathroom redone. Became lead mod. :D BEST yard sale.

2018-New car. Trip to Dallas for niece's wedding. Trip to Tulsa for niece's wedding. (Yes, two different nieces lol.) Saw Wicked. Finished second children's story for grandkids.

2019-Trip to Puerto Rico. Sold house in Puerto Rico and sold second house here. (Had the closings one week apart.) Sold the sailboat. Yard sale. Had driveway paved.

I also enjoyed 2016 personally and pop culturally. I was in college at the time and I had saved enough money to go on a few vacations with my best friend (Disneyland, LA and Seattle). Drake and Rihanna’s music was awesome during that summer and I liked the tropical vibes that summer had. Also got to see Beyonce in September for the Lemonade tour and actually met Jay Z in an elevator. It was one of my fav 2010 years. Politically it wasn’t great but pop culturally and personally I give it 8.5 or 9 out of 10.

I gained some weight and felt depressed most of 2018-2020, not to mention the acne I developed in those two years. I understand your pain. 2010’s sound bittersweet for the both of us. Mine was/is caused by menopause-yeah, and weight gain is part of it. I still am dealing with it-hot flashes, and I will cry at the slightest thing sometimes.

I’m sorry that sounds like such a huge transition. My hormones have made me really depressed and cry at anything sometimes too. I hope it gets better for you :)

It is better but I know what it is so when things going wacky, I know why. When I things were first starting and I didn't know what was happening, I had a few major meltdown. One, I chocked up to being overly tired and very stressed out because of medical emergency with Carlos (the emergency passed at that point but I was still overtired). The other, well-the good news about that one was that my kitchen got REALLY clean. :D ;D ;D ;D

I think you can all tell how much I dislike early 2010s culture. :P And yet somehow 2018's pop culture and music was so bad and bland it made the cut for the worst year of the decade.
