Tbh, I'm gonna miss the 2010s too, the Early 2010s most importantly.

This decade was really long and it has drawn itself out. You know, I still don't think we are leaving 2010s culture even in 2019. I feel like it's here to stay and will seep through 2020, and 2021 will be the first cultural '20s year (just a prediction). But now that we are at the end, I can see things a lot more clearly now. I think when people look back at this decade, everything from start to finish will stand out and be very 2010s! No one will say "oh yeah 2019 was already the '20s culturally or "2010 was 2000s culturally". From start to finish everything will be seen so very 2010s! There has been a consistent "vibe" this decade in pop culture from start to finish just like the 1980s. That's how consistent this decade was. Am I the only one who thinks this? So basically some notable years of this decade that people will associate as 2010s will be all over the map like 2011, 2015, and 2017 too! All of these years and more will be remembered as having a strong identity compassing 2010s culture. What I'm trying to say is.... There IS NO quintessential 2010s year! It's impossible to choose just one year! So many years this decade have a quintessential feel and cultural identity for the 2010s. Trump to me is just as much a 2010s president as Obama and that's because the culture and vibe in everything else remained so consistent. And it all kind of mushed together and unified together nicely. So even if trends changed throughout the decade, they kind of changed subtly and consistently in a unified way so it can still point to the 2010s decade no matter what it is. I disagree, 1980 to 1989 is a better comparison because the 80s was a fairly consistent decade, even though 1980 was still a 70s year in terms of culture while 1989 was apart of the late 80s-early 90s era. The early 10s and late 10s were different but the decade was still fairly consistent, though not to the same extent as the 80s. 1970/1979 are more different than 1980/1989 were, because the year 1970 was literally no different than any of the late 60s years, while 1979 was all about 1970s culture with early 80s culture coming in. 1990 and 1999 are worlds apart from each other. 1990 was still the 1980s while 1999 was late 90s and early 2000s. The technological changes that happened over the 90s were just as big if not bigger than the changes that happened over the 2000s. Due to the creation of the internet and yearly leaps in computing technology.

2010 and 2019 are near polar opposites in my eyes. If you brought someone from 2010 into the world of 2019, they probably would be very shocked at how popular music went from Ke$ha and Lady Gaga to things like Billie Eilish, "Old Town Road" and "Señorita", at how gentrification major cities have gone through, at how incredibly advanced and wide smartphones have become, at how internet has basically been completely revamped, and not to mention the political make-up.

We went from the '90s to the '10s in 10 years time. Both literally ('00 to '10) and culturally ('98 to '08). Although the true 2000s ended in 2006. The 2000s were the bridge from the old to the new. I guess you can say really 2000s culture was a little shorter, about 7 years. 2006 - 2008 was a weird era where it wasn't 2000s but it wasn't 2010s either. It was like a a prolonged transitional era where you saw a lot of modern stuff come into play.

When someone shows me a photo or video of any year of the 1980s whether it's from 1989 or 1980 I can usually guess correctly it is from the '80s just by the general consistent atmosphere. It would be harder to do with a decade like the '70s or '90s.

It's crazy how 1990 born's will be hitting 30 throughout 2020 while 1960 born's will be hitting 60 throughout 2020. Basically all the main parents of 90's born's will be hitting the old age throughout the 2020's (at least IMO that's what hitting 60 means). It's also crazy to believe that those hitting 30 throughout 2020, the majority of them were still 5 when I was born.  :o

What makes me feel better about 2020 is that everyone 10-15+ years older than me have already been through what people in my age group including me are about to go through.

People born in 1990 turning 30 is the most shocking thing for me. And then 5 years after that us ‘95 babies will reach the same milestone.

And and 80s babies turn 40. That’s crazy too.

ikr, but again it does make me feel good that a lot of millennials are already going through that. These are the same people who influenced our entertainment as kids.  It's going to be crazy to see a 60 yr old gen xer since they were still semi-young in the early 2000s.  Most people on here have parents 30-40 yrs older than them but my mom has been through that as long as I can remember since she was already in her 50s when she had me (I was adopted that's why) and already had grandchildren now she has great-grandchildren in her 70s.

It's scary to think that majority of the Boomers are now senior citizens, and majority of Gen X-ers are middle aged. I remember back when we were all kids and Boomers were the adults.
