I've seen people having mixed feelings about this specific year, a lot of peolpe thinks is the worst year of the decade.
Why do you think 2018 is this hated?

I didn't mind 2018. The year had a rocky start for me but I actually had a decent second half. I really liked the music of 2018, so much so I would put it up there with 2010 and 2011.
So far, 2019 is competing with 2014 for the worst year of this decade in my personal life.

Pop culturally it was the worst year of the decade for sure. Even worse than 2012 (which was the second worst year pop culturally). 2018 was horrible.
Personal life wise 2012 is still the worst but 2018 wasn't best for my personal life either but wasn't terrible.
Overall, 2018 was really bad. 2019 is bad as well so far. The late 2010s are so awful even worse than the early 2010s and everyone knows I hate the early 2010s. This decade is complete garbage on the whole.

Hm.
2018 was just meh. It was an ok year for me. The only highlight was with my music. Other than that, it was just ok. I think 2016 to 2018 felt the same. I loved 2015, great year!
Maybe in 20 years I will feel differently about 2018.

i wont be this negative about this decade but i agree the 2010s on a whole havent been that great or changeful decade to me i dont hate this decade but it just seems like a decade were everything stays the same in pop culture Too long overall.i think if maybe the late 10s were a little more different than the mid 10s it could of saved the 2010s but besides minor change 2013-2019 have felt almost identical at least to me but.i dont know there just something missing from this decade that the 90s and 2000-2005 had that for some reason 2006-2019 has been missing! And after officially living through the late 90s and 00s i can safely say that the 00s are a little better than the 10s mostly culturally! this is how i see it 90s>00>10s
I mean the 00s may not have been as great as the 90s but i def prefer them to the 10s i prefer the motorola phone razor phones internet without all the apps even though apps can be fun i prefer the toys and games(video games of the 00s)and even though bush was in office i never really hated the 00s.i will most likely end up liking the 2020s more than the 10s as well since the 2020s will probably be some sort of backlash to the 10s atleast hopefully it will.
BUT IN ANY WAY IM JUST THANKFUL TO THE MAN UPSTAIRS FOR EVERYDAY GREAT LIFE OF BEING ALIVE

It's hard to believe this decade is ending with an impending economic collapse and a culture that says if you aren't white, heterosexual, or fundamentalist Christian and you don't believe that women should be in the home, gays should be in the closet, and a Bible should be in every classroom, you aren't a real American and should be "dealt with." What a despicable, hellish, nightmare era we are living through.

I think 2019 also feels very diferent from 2010-2018.
2019 definitely feels like a transitional year, we're moving to 5G, PS5, new XBOX, Self-driving cars and probably a new pop music era.
the 2010s culture will die in late 2020- early 2021 imo, it wont last long.

I can't wait....I've hated just about everything about this decade.
I honestly hope that an alternative genre that uses the traditional guitar-bass-drums set up without any electro additions will make its way back into the charts in 2020. The closest thing we had to that in this decade was in the early 2010s, due to residual popularity of 2000s stuff. Indie was still huge thing spread out through the early-mid part of the decade, though, but I guess it barely topped the charts because nobody united under a select few artists within that genre.
Nothing against EDM, trap, or indie-with-electronic-stuff, but honestly, this digital stuff gets stale when it very disproportionately dominates over alternatives.

The 2010s may be better than the 2020s, who knows, no one can predict the future. But the 2010s will always be terrible imo. This truly was the decade from hell. Those who said the same for the 2000s did not know what they were in for.
I can't wait until 2020 comes, only a couple months left of this decade.

You probably can say that from every upcoming decade, people in 2030s, will think 2020s was the best and 2030s sucks, people in 2040s will think 2030s was the best and 2040s sucks...

Usually it's like that because things seem to get progressively worse but not all the time. There is still a chance the '20s will be better. I'm not hopeful as I doubt it but there is still a chance. Like how the 1950s were better than the 1940s. But I highly doubt music and pop culture can get good again.

Good point there. That happened in the 1920s and we are unlikely to see a repeat of alcohol prohibition. However, I think we will see more and more laws in the near future enforcing the will of the Southern Baptist church. Abortion, same-sex marriage, legal marijuana, and religious freedom for non-Christians probably won't be a thing in this country in five years.
And as far as the economy? This is worse than the Great Depression. Buckle up. Things are about to get bad.

I really wonder what kind of movies we will see if we end up with strict censorship laws. That isn't imminent but if the Republican Party is able to achieve everything they want, they will eventually go there.

Watch people in the 2050s-2060s be nostalgis about the 2010s even if it was a boring decade ::), nostalgia is a big thing.
Hell, people has nostalgia for the 1980s, and it was as boring as the 2010s was.
