I think the 2020s will be the exact opposite of this decade.
we will see a major 2000s fashion comeback between 2021-2024, with denim mini skirts and baggy pants being a trend in the mid 2020s. Mom jeans have already replaced skinny jeans as the standard fit, and i think that will continue well into the 2020s. I also believe emo culture might make a small comeback in fashion, and darker clothes will be more popular. 2020s fashion will look something like this (sorry for the big ass pics):

in the late 2020s/early 2030s, low-rise skinny jeans will be fashionable, and there will be an late 2000s/early 2010s fashion revival. Thick framed oversized glasses will replace the extremely small ones we see today. flannel/plaid, neon colored clothes, and beanies will make a comeback. it will resemble this:

as for makeup, i think the popularity of kpop will influence makeup to take a more natural makeup direction as opposed to the overly-sculpted look that's popular today. lip gloss will replace the matte lipstick trend (we're already seeing that actually) and contouring will definitely be toned down. lip liner will make a comeback, and eyebrows will also be a lot thinner and straighter, but thicker than 90s/2000s brows:

I kind of want to see 3D printed clothing and fabric being incorporating into mainstream fashion. It just looks so beautifully intricate to me:

Sadly the technology is still too primitive right now and not efficient enough for this kind of stuff but hopefully it will improve in the next few years!

Those two pictures show slightly darker liner, pretty soon we'll see brown lipstick come back in style with much darker liner. Animal print may also make a comeback, I see a few items in stores already. Windbreaker style active wear too may also replace tights and leggings, I'm already seeing it for sale but not being worn yet.

I think the 2020s will begin with a gen z slacker phase. It'll be very late 80s / early-mid 90s slackerish but with 2010s hip hop hanging over their heads. The indie kids will worship the indie era of the mainstream 90s and indie 00s. Judd Apatow movies will have 2020s indie/hipster resurgence and poke into the mainstream again. The kids will emulate Odd Future and Mac Demarco...but then they'll grow up...

The late 2020s kids will find all that early 2020s stuff outdated and off-putting and will gravitate towards what they see as the future and sophisticated. It'll get to the point where even the most open-minded millennials will think the oncoming 2030s culture too strange and worst...too dull.
