Subject: Which Rap producers defined 2010s rap
Written By: mc98 on 12/30/18 at 1:37 pm
Like the 90s with Dr Dre and the 00s with Timbaland and Scott Storch, what rap producers from the 2010s will define this decade?
Lex Luger: He was a producer for the early Trap hits of 2010-2011. He produced songs for Waka Flocka Flame and Ace Hood. He basically kickstarted the Trap movement.
Mike Will Made It: Another early Trap producer who made hits in 2012-2013. Songs like Love Me and Bugatti were big hits and honestly, they sound dated af. His later stuff like he did on Kendrick Lamars recent album bangs though.
Metro Boomin: The quintessential Trap producer. He produced songs with Future and Migos. His 2015-2016 stuff were gold. I like his heavy, dark atmosphere he conveys in his songs.
Today’s new wave of rappers don’t have a defined producer. Songs like Lucid Dreams, SAD!, Gucci Gang, Fefe, Nowadays, XO Tour Life all have the same clout/emo aesthetic, but each song has a different producer.
Which one do you think defined rap production of the 2010s?
