Actually, a six-year gap is pretty normal considering it took only 5 years for the Nintendo 64, GameCube, and Wii to come out.

The NES and the SNES were actually first released 7 years apart (if you count the NES’s first release in Japan in 1983 (2 years before the US got the NES)).

I think she was only referring to the American releases. Nintendo consoles have been the most consistent when it comes to releasing systems in a 5-6 year cycle.

So, I guess The PS3 I still own now would be considered a relic in the next few years.

Yes, too soon. 8 years would make more sense. In the time it takes to wait until a system is more affordable they talk about a new one.

For Sony's case yes since their focus is mainly power.
