A website allegedly run by University of Washington students allows individuals to publicly accuse people of sexual assault with no evidence.

The website, titled “Make them scared UW,” was first registered in November of last year but reportedly launched in late September of this year by University of Washington students, the Daily UW campus newspaper reports.

It appears that the list of accused rapists and sexual assault perpetrators has grown substantially on the site in recent weeks in the wake of the rape claims made against U.S. Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Meanwhile, one student named on “Make them scared UW” told The College Fix that the allegation is false, that the University of Washington has dismissed the allegations against him as completely uncorroborated and cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Sounds like a great way for false accusers to find themselves in VERY hot water.

Freedom of speech does not include libelous and false statements injurious to one's reputation.

The people posting at that site had better have something to back up their claims, else they could get into a HUGE lawsuit.

Sounds like the start of an all out witch hunt. It's never ok to ruin lives by falsely accusing someone of something horrible.

I feel like this will make people take actual rape victims less seriously which is quite counterintuitive

That's where we are.

You are lucky in Canada.  Life is continuing and will continue as it always has and history will continue to progress.  America has been overtaken by extreme right-wing Christian fundamentalist authoritarians set on taking us back at least to the 1950s and they are going to do it by force.  In their world, women more or less exist to serve the man and cook and clean.

Watch A Handmaid's Tale.  That's pretty much a documentary about what's happening in America right now.

I haven't watched the show, but I've read the book (ironically, it was written by a Canadian :P)

I hope it doesn't come to that but with what Republicans are doing to abortion laws, it shouldn't be long  8-P
