Subject: Purity Ring - Shrines (2012)...Origin of Late 2010s Pop?

As an early 2010s hipster (I guess? who knows?), I used to listen to Purity Ring but I moved on to music more along my taste. But lately, it's becoming more apparent that a lot of late 2010's pop music sounds like Purity Ring's album Shrines.
Is this the prime origin of late 2010's pop music?

Hey, mainstream sounds come from somewhere. That somewhere is from more obscure pioneers. Exhibit A: The entire genre of rap was invented by nobodies rapping at block parties in New York.

Thanks for introducing me to this band. I have listening to Fineshrine and it sounds different from the rest of indietronica, very similar to Grimes and Chvrches.
