What is the general consensus on Jean shorts in 2018?

Unless you're a girl, no. And that goes for all 2005 fashion trends.

Jean shorts went out of style in the mid 2000s at the latest for guys and as far as I know, haven't come back since.  I used to love them back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

I'm pretty sure it's still fashionable for women as long as it is high-waisted and distressed  ???

The jean shorts with the black leggings look that was popular circa 2007-2015/6 was real class. I don't really see it around anymore.

Jean shorts were very popular for both males and females in the 70s and 80s and they were SHORT. We just called them "cutoffs" and often people would make their own by cutting off jeans. Very short. Which would then fray around the bottom which was all the cooler. On males these would sometimes be paired with a "half shirt", a t shirt cut off at the midriff. No belt with the shorts. And no cutesy names like "jorts" and "crop tops". That must seem like an alien world to young people now, but back then it was cool. Very cool. Trust me.  8)

I still have a pair, but I've had them for about a decade or so.

I actually happen to be wearing a pair right now!

I used to wear jean shorts back in the Early-Mid 2000s. I prefer not to wear jeans though, so I haven't wore jean shorts in a very long time.

Uncomfortable (the one guys wear). I don't understand why they exist, unless, say, you couldn't look too casual at work and you live near a beach.

Those are fugly as sin. I like normal looking jeans. Denim skirts are making a comeback too. I see many in stores now.

What type of jean shorts are we talking about here? Cause there's this type which looks perfectly fine and sometimes actually looks bomb:

Well since everything from the early 00's are back, so are jean shorts. I'm wearing them right now in fact. I say it's acceptable for guys as long as the length is below the knee.
