Definitely the people (imo). Idk how to say this but, people seem more in tune with issues with society. Not saying we're 100% peaceful but, we seem more "together". Hopefully someone gets it.

This decade was pretty split. You've got a lot of standout aspects from the early 2010s like bright coloured fashion, Lady Gaga, electropop, etc. And you have the things from today like Donald Trump, trap, tension in the world, etc. Many of the stuff from the early 2010s are still around today. The whole mobile revolution and flat colourful design trend is another big standout aspect and I have a big feeling the '20s will go back to the more 3D look like how it was in the 2000s.

- The reign of social media
- The reign of flat screen tv's
- The reign of streaming sites
- The reign of mobile apps
- The reign of rap music
- Online shopping, job apps, etc (although going online was option, in the 2000s, I still filled out job applications by hand)
- 90s influence on fashion trends
- The ability to make a living from being an internet personality
- Social justice movements and their counter movements, terrorist attacks on the homeland/ISIS, mass school shootings

But dubstep was popular in 2010 too and electropop was still going strong in 2013. Trap did not start getting mainstream in 2016, it was already popular in 2014. Trap Queen was in the top 5 songs for 2015. And EDM was popular all decade long, it didn't start in 2013 (the one popular today actually started in 2016) and technically electropop is a form of EDM. Anyways nothing wrong with your list it's just the dates are messed up.

Beards got popular in late 2010 too with Movember. By November 2011 certainly: I remember people not shaving their beards because they found out they looked better with it after growing it for a month ;D
