I always thought manbuns were only manbuns when the knot was on the top of the head?

It's a very common look in my area. I never, ever see regular long hair on a guy under say, 35, anymore. It's usually stylized like this with minimal facial hair.

It seems to be popular still. I'm telling you, where I live I see manbuns like the one in my OP all the time on young Latino and Arabic guys. Only white guys have the small, stereotypical manbun. Then again, I see the manbun and the mullet as hairstyles which have a utility factor, in that they have all the fun of long hair with all the pros of short hair

Yes, that and higher variants of that as well. I've seen some that were like that but the size of say a mini Afro. Btw, in another neighborhood of Brooklyn right now and I just saw someone with the EXACT haircut of the OP. Same lines. Only difference is the guy had the bun tied on top of his head rather than on the back.
