Subject: I'm starting to get a bit happier now that I'm turning 31

Written By: Brian06 on 05/05/18 at 11:41 pm

I really don't care as much about stuff now. I hated my mid and late 20s tbh but I'm now starting get comfortable in my 30s. The hype of turning 30 is now over. People will never change in a lot ways, there will always be people who annoy you and people you like. Pop culture I truly could care less about. I'm getting older and I'm starting to like it and just don't care. I'm just going to go on with my life from now on and try not to take things so seriously.  8)

I literally found a toy car earlier and I looked at it and it said "© 2003".

I was like "Holy sh*t, this toy car is older than Wobotnik" ;D.

I actually know this one woman my age that has a kid wobotnik's age. I mean yeah she was a teen mom but still someone born in '87 is definitely old enough to be the mother/father of kids his age. ;D I know this guy and another woman my age that have 2007er daughters too, not too far from wobotnik's age, and those people will be joining soon!

Man, I said the exact thing when I turned 24. In a sense it's liberating getting older because you just stop caring about petty stuff. Just live your life and try to have a good time.  8)

I have a cousin born in 2004 and it kind of freaks me out a bit, that's she already a teen.

I think really it gets better after 30 especially. I guess in my mid 20s I stated WANTING to be taken seriously but maybe I wasn't quite yet but now in my 30s I notice I am more. I did have some struggles with that at first and kids seeing me as older now but now I'm getting comfortable with this whole being still pretty young but being a true adult thing. I kinda like being taken more seriously and stuff while I am still pretty young.

Yeah, that seems cool! It's like the best of both worlds!

I'm kinda experiencing this right now for the first time and it's extremely weird. Teens have actually referred to me as an "oldhead" before. It's so weird. And when I'm on music forums, people have told me that "my generation" of artists have reached their peak and now a new generation of artists have taken over who aren't apart of my generation.

I get all these late teens/early 20s kids that are like "oh you don't look 31" and I mean I'm kinda complimented by it but I'm like whatever. This one early 20s girl when I said I was over 30 started talking about how the oldest guy she ever dated was 30 and how weird it was dating a guy so "old" and I was like "oh 30 yeah that's so old you know" sarcastically.  ;D I don't always feels 31 but when I'm around 21 year olds for long enough, then yeah I do start feeling 31.  ;D

I can agree with this.  26-29 were the worst years of my own life.  My early thirties have been better but I'm still dealing with the consequences of bad decisions I made between 26 and 29.  I definitely think the quarter life crisis is real, especially for our generation where many people are delaying marriage.

I get all these late teens/early 20s kids that are like "oh you don't look 31" and I mean I'm kinda complimented by it but I'm like whatever. I have found over the past year or so I don't really relate to college-aged people as much as I used to.  When I was 28 I could still fit in pretty well with early twentysomethings.  Nowadays I can fit in great with 28-year olds but not so much 21 year olds.  I really do miss the feeling of being in my early twenties and the excitement and novelty of it all.

I was able to walk/bike to the store and buy junk for myself at the age of 10. But I lived in a very safe neighborhood and the stores were just a 5-10 minute walk from my house. I remember thinking it was so cool to have that freedom. At 14 I was flying on a plane across the country by myself lol. It just goes to show everyone comes from different walks of life.

As a teen I didn't care about petty stuff people said about me like my peers did. I was all about my grades,  youtube, poetry, and pokemon.  I was pretty mature about what people said about me because I was taught from a young age to have tough skin. I lived in environments where kids get called fa**ot, b*tch, ni**a,  mf'er, and pu**Y, etc. Growing up in a house of boys really helped me deal with the criticism from other people. I had moments were I acted got sensitive  but when you get called every insult in the book by your own family members you just don't care what people on the outside has to say.

I feel bad for dude. mwalker1996 and mqg96 gave him a compliment of admiration and got offended just afterwards when I stated he was still fairly new.

No member on this site is harsh, completely the opposite. I really hope dude doesn't run into a toxic community.

Last say on the matter.

I'm also on sites like IGN and thecoli (sometimes) and you have to take it a lot more like a man over there or you'll get roasted badly. You'll feel 100x worse on those sites if you can't handle the simple problems on here. Same goes for twitch or live-streams on XBOX or PS4. People make fun of everybody on the live chat but if you stay quiet they'll eventually stop, simple as that. I'm on sports forums all the time, and everybody gets roasted when it comes to heated sports debates (including myself) because of different opinions than others but people just ignore and move on. This community has a lot more restrictions than any other site I've been on which is a good thing. That's why this site has always been chill with chill people on here like you said.

Oh, and pop forums could be as bad too. I left one nine days ago despite not wanting to, but I'm willing to wait for my long-ass self-imposed hiatus to end for a certain person there.  :-*

Man. I got my fair share of forum disses. They WILL come around to you but, by the time you logout, your only going to be looked at as how you act. Your post  got me. Sometimes, its about the plot.

The way I see it, pop forums are pretty much these sites' long-lost gay brothers, and PULL, Guru Gossip, lolcow.farm, and YouTalkTrash are their long-lost teenage sisters. :D

Sounds like you're growing into your confidence! Also, a person realizes all the high school drama was just temporary crap.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Yeah especially recently now that some of these very very young people are now getting into the workforce. I actually work with some people that are 20 years old or so and if I talk about memories from y2k or 9/11 these people get this look on their faces like I'm talking about the 1950s or something! I mean people our age remember when the year 2000 was a big deal, or say what we were doing on September 11, 2001. Now there's people in the workforce that aren't little kids anymore that have no clue about this stuff and it may as well be ancient history to them. I am starting to really notice these gaps in experience now, I don't necessarily mind it, but I do notice this. I sorta like telling people younger than me about y2k or 9/11. I can actually tell people younger than me now about historical events that they simply do not remember. Before it was always people older than me talking about stuff I didn't experience but now I'm experiencing the other side.

It just shows how generation Y is becoming more like X'ers and Bommers now than the core group is reaching 30. Before you guys were the young inexperienced kids nows it's the us who are born in the mid-late 90s who are graduating college.

Yeah tbh I complain a lot about how much I hated my 20s (except my early 20s), but my mom who's in her late 60s said that's pretty normal and that the 20s are tough years for a lot of people. Now in my early 30s I've come to accept how the 20s are tough but necessary learning years for human beings, everybody has to go though their bumps and bruises of the 20s and then in their 30s they get more comfortable and secure as a result of their learning in their 20s. That just seems like how it is in general.  :-\\
