Subject: US music industry's 2017 revenues were 65% streaming, up from 51% in 2016

So the United States' music industry revenues increased 16.5% in 2017, continuing the growth from 2016. This is the first time two years in a row have seen increases since 1998 and 1999. The increases came mostly from growth in paid music subscriptions to services like Spotify, Pandora, and AppleMusic.
Physical and digital sales both declined in 2017, but an interesting thing to note is that physical sales made up 17% of revenues while digital made up 15%, so this is the first time physical has been above digital since 2011. Even though physical sales declined as a whole, vinyl sales actually increased in 2017.
I'm interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on this, and if you want to read the full report for more info, here it is: http://www.riaa.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/RIAA-Year-End-2017-News-and-Notes.pdf

Kind of not a big fan. People will have to live with the fact that they can get content taken down from the streaming services they like (not so much of a problem for Spotify as it is for Netflix, since there's still a billion+ songs on Spotify people can enjoy). I want those days back when people would use either physical or downloads as their main method of consuming their entertainment, not just music.

But yeah, I'm excited that physical media isn't exactly dead. I don't do much streaming besides YouTube, but it's there if you want it.
