Subject: 2016 vs 2017

Which year did you like better?
I personally thought 2016 had better pop music, but I think 2017 has better hip-hop music.

2016 did give me early nostalgia (way too early) but 2017 i will probably be nostalgic for in the future so I will probably gonna have to go with 2017 since alot of hyped games came out this year.

Culturally speaking 2016 was miles better than 2017, even though 2016 wasn't the best. But at least it had mid 2010s leftovers throughout that year and was mixed with some good things throughout the year even though there were bad parts as well. Personally 2017 has been quite great for me a lot of nice things happened this year so for my personal life 2017 was great and better than 2016. 2017 in music and culture was garbage though imo except the first half wasn't terrible for music as some good songs came out.

For Hip Hop it was very weak this year with the exception of very few underground artists. I hated both Hopsin's and Eminem's new albums and they are usually my favourites. Feels like Hip Hop died this year in a way. On the topic of things dying, feels like Star Wars died this year too. :-X

Forget about Eminem & Hopsin. They`re soo early 2010s. They don`t have it anymore! Listen to the new artists that came up like Lil Xan, Trippie Red, 69 TEKASHI, Lil Peep, Lil Uzi Vert & XXXTentacion just to name a few for you. I wasn`t really a Hip-Hop fan before this year because of these. The underground has so much talent aswell. You need to look for artists on Soundcloud. Most of the underground artists are better then the ones for mainstream.

For pop culture 2016. For personal life 2017. It's hard to tell which one was better overall, but I chose 2017. The 2013-2016 period is forgettable. In fact, I'd be happy if mid 2013 to about 2017 just got erased from my memory.

2017 is a little better than 2016.2012-2016 is a forgettable period pop culture wise and life wise. But I really can't wait to see what 2018 brings.

2013 - 2015 were all great years culturally. The best of this decade and I miss it already. 2016 was so-so, leaning towards bad though. And 2017 was very bad. 2010 - 2012 were all horrible with 2012 being the worst year of this decade. 2018? We'll see. :)

personally 2010 and 2011 were mad lit and energetic and 2012-2016 were pretty boring to a max and 2017 wasn't that great but is a slight improvement to 2016 that's why I'm excited for 2018.

Pop culturally 2017 was better, but 2017 was arguably the worst year of my life.
2016 was ok, at least my family and I were still happy and my grandfather was still alive, so I pick 2016.

2017 was better. I'll always have a soft spot for that year, I just know it.
I always have a soft spot for the 7 years, even if they're objectively awful, like 1997, 2007 and now 2017. I can't wait till 2027 ;D

Yeah looking back I really enjoyed 2017. There's a lot of memories from that year. The fact that was Canada 150 will really bring back a lot of memories for me. So many events in my city catered around Canada 150 and the Canada Day celebrations was the biggest I've ever seen. Then personally things were going well for me that year and I had a pretty fun summer despite taking classes and not going anywhere. I was relaxed for the most part. It is most definitely a memorable year, I say that for sure.

I agree, although I feel like by the time we get to these years- the general pop culture is really starting to drag on. Like we have already passed the peak of the decade by then yet nothing new is appearing like in the 8 & 9 years so it's a little boring. Apart from that, 07 and 17 were both pretty good for my personal life.

If you would have asked me about 1 year go, I would have said 2016 without blinking an eye.
That was because I started off 2017 in a major and deep depression.
But after recovering from that, and facing and getting through my Grandpas sad death from Luekemia, the year got 1000000 times better, and reached a new high in my personal life I did not expect to reach at all.
I went on so many trips and exciting places in 2017 and had one hell of a summer.
Though my family home life has been in crisis since September, my life overall has still been great.
Right now I would say 2017, I cemented my identity that year with very little consequences and made so many memories. Though I will always hold the Summer of 2016 in a glowing light of nostalgia.
Pop culturally, 2016 was more MEMORABLE overall, but 2017 had some unique moments.

I think that's more true for the 6 years. In the 7 years you start seeing a few signs of the next decade, which can be exciting. 1997 and 2007 were very changeful (2017 less so - but I think we'll look back on it being more changeful).
