More people know who Amy Winehouse was than Glenn Frey.
I'm a classic rock junkie, so I love his work in The Eagles.
But you should have put Amy in place of Glenn, knowing how unique AND popular her status was in the music industry.

Didn't think of her until after I posted it, Glenn personally was the biggest shock to me being raised on his music and having family friends who were quite good friends of his.. even met him a couple times. loved Amy too

Robin Williams was probably the most surprising in general but I was most shocked by Carrie Fisher as I'm a huge Star Wars fan!

Tom Petty was pretty shocking. And Bowie maybe the most, because for those of us of a certain generation he seemed utterly immortal. From that exalted time when rock stars were mystical and mysterious creatures who were not subject to the laws, man made or otherwise, that governed mere mortals.

Whoever played Princess Leia in Star Wars. I don't normally follow celebrities, but the fact that she died at around the same time as her mother did was rather shocking for me.

Even though the names weren't on there, I was shocked at the deaths of rock musicians Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington.
