I didn't appreciate this year for music as it was going on until the Fall of that year. Looking back it was actually pretty good.

Cake by the Ocean also came out in 2015 but got popular in 2016.

"Ex's & Oh's" by Elle King is one I find catchy.
Adele's "Hello" (which got popular in U.S. the following year) and Alessia Cara's "Here" are runners up for me.

I think the time when the song is popular is usually more important than the time it was released. Uptown Funk was technically released in 2014, but it was the #1 song of 2015. Same with Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis back in 2008. It was released in 2007, but was the #1 song of 2008.
Anyway, 2015 was a weird year for music. I feel like a lot of songs that were popular then probably wouldn't have been nearly as popular if they were released any other year. They don't sound the same as the rest of the decade. Maybe it's just me though :o.

It's a 2015 song. It was the number 1 song of 2015. Release date is irrelevant. It was popular in 2015.

I feel like 2013 was like that actually. But some of that is true for 2015 too.

Maybe in America it did, but it was already getting heavy airplay and high on the charts in December 2014 in Australia

I don't remember it being popular in 2014. Back in December 2014, "Freaks" by Timmy Trumpet seemed like the song that was getting the most airplay. ;D

Yes! 2015 was such an awesome year for music releases after two fairly weak ones. It will certainly be seen as a stand-out year of this decade in the future
