Subject: In a way 90s culture is back!

Written By: questoftheninja on 11/09/17 at 9:39 pm

Not all 90s but like I feel like 90s style things are coming in again and I think that a 90s like deacde is coming for the 2020s not really 90s but I think we're heading back for a 90s styles personality again I mean will and grace,Rosanne,90s cartoons are back ,90s house on mtv and 90s clothes are starting to come back. I feel like it.

I agree with you. We've finally truly started entering the age of 90s nostalgia. I know people here think the 2010s has been about 90s nostalgia but if you missed all the 80sness underneath the 10s, you've been blind.

I hope not. The 2020’s should have its own unique culture, not a copy from other decades. I don’t want to live in the past.

It will, but the radio stations will be playing music from the '90s, '00s, and '10s in the 2020s. '80s nostalgia will finally be a thing of the past. Also, VH1 will probably air "I Love the 2010s" in the '20s. I think the 2020s will be the time of Meghan Trainor's music, bad Avatar sequels, and the post-movie episodes of Bob's Burgers. It's too early to tell what the hit TV shows of that time will be, so I went with Bob's Burgers because I know there is a movie coming out in the year 2020.

I think peak nostalgia for a decade usually comes in the late part of the decade, so I feel like we are almost at peak '90s nostalgia but not quite there yet. I know a lot of people will disagree with me because they think early 2000s nostalgia is already here but I don't see it even close to coming in terms of mainstream nostalgia. I don't think early 2000s will have significant nostalgia until the 2020s arrive. I feel like '90s nostalgia was kind of weak this decade, the '80s nostalgia was better in the 2000s. Also '80s nostalgia still seeped through this decade to especially in the early part (hot tub time machine and other '80s nostalgia was still around in the early 2010s) '90s nostalgia only truly started going mainstream around 2011/2012. Speaking of this, here is a video I came across today:

Well, that would be because a lot of people my age and older don't want to revisit the '90s.

Sadly, this is all they see when they hear about the '90s:

I wouldn't say that. There are actually lots of people your age and older who DO like and appreciate the era. Not all of them saw the 90s all about grunge, flannel or even gangsta rap. There were a lot more to that era.

If there were Xers that appreciated the '90s, then why wasn't VH1's I Love the '90s and I Love the '90s Part Deux as good as the first I Love the '80s miniseries?

There were. Not all Xers liked the 80s, and I wasn't just talking about them, but also the Boomers, Silents etc. There were millions of adults who loved the 90s.

2017 feels eerily similar to the late 1990s with the roaring economy.

I wish I can feel the roaring economy where I live lol. Things are slowly improving here though, still nowhere near pre-2015 levels but definitely getting back on track.

The strong global economy is creating more demand for oil. The price rallied to $60 a couple of days ago, that's up from its low of below $30 in early 2016. :D

Ok.

Pick up a business magazine. It's more good news after more good news. Two consecutive quarters of more than 3% GDP growth, unemployment at its lowest since 2001, TSX and Dow Jones hitting record highs, etc. Many are talking about a "Goldilocks economy" (look it up) of economies with strong growth and low inflation.

Also I was reading this article: "Mentions of Economic Issues as Top Problem Lowest Since 1999" http://news.gallup.com/poll/222299/mentions-economic-issues-top-problem-lowest-1999.aspx?g_source=Economy&g_medium=newsfeed&g_campaign=tiles

Thank you! I agree with you. The 90s will NEVER come back. Decades don't come back, even if we bring back the fads and clothing. I lived through the 90s and the clothing which they are saying look 90s really don't. It's not the same. I agree I think every dacade should have it's own wonderful culture!

The jobs are not here yet though. The economy and jobs haven't fully bounced back yet where I live.

My sentiments exactly. The '90s started out great, but then everything went downhill.

I don’t understand everyone’s fascination with pop culture from the mid and late ‘90s. The mid and late '90s are overrated.

You either like something, or you don't. It's as simple as that.

I like the 1990's because I just like them.

I liked the first half of the 1990's than the second half, though. Like 1990 to 1995.
