Subject: 50 People Were Murdered In Las Vegas Last Night

It looks like no one thought to post a thread about it.
Just another day in the United States.
Nothing is gonna be done about it so let's move on to a topic that's more fun. :-[

Wtf America. This is disgusting yet your country wants to do nothing about, how long is it until another 50 people are dead?
Last time I saw there was only 3 people dead, I didn't know it was this bad
What do you want to do about it? The country is flooded with firearms and no law can ever change that. A lot of guns aren't even registered anywhere so there is no way to find them. The spirit has been out of the bottle for two or so centuries and nothing can force it back into it. It is something people over there simply will have to live with as nasty as that is. :\'(

Was reading up on the perp. He seems to be an otherwise "normal guy" with the exception that...
1. His father was once in the FBI Ten Most Wanted List (8 years) for armed robbery. :o. At the time (the 1960's and 70's) he was diagnosed as a criminal psychopath.
2. He claimed to be a high stakes gambler and let his brother know when he won $250k in online poker. ::)
So my guess is he did not tell his bro when he LOST $500k. I am thinking that he likely was up to his neck in gambling debt and given a little genetic tendency, decided to get his "vengeance" on the Vegas strip. But instead of throwing a set of box cars last night, he came up snake eyes. :-\\

Unfortunately, it is just another day in the U.S. I really don't know WHEN the powers that be will do ANYTHING! They think the Second Amendment is the most important thing in the world. If nothing was done after Newtown, why should anything be done now?
Yes, it makes me angry. It should make EVERYONE angry. But, like so many, I feel so helpless.

It's sickening.
But there are only so many plausible solutions. Why is mental-health awareness always blatantly ignored? I say do something about THAT, and enact universal background checks. Those two plans might end up getting us somewhere.

They claim a lone gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and he was taken down, but RT reports "multiple shooters."
Questions arise as to how a gunman could have shot so many with such accuracy from this distance, from the upper floors of a hotel to the concert area below, located next to a huge pyramid.
Some I have read are wondering "inside job" and thats more scary than anything cause you just dont know who is responsible!!!
THIS WHOLE THING IS SO HEARTBREAKING :(

Cat
A lot of legal weapons share the same ammunition with full auto ones. NATO's 5.56mm and 7.62mm and all the ex soviet calibers are widely available and are used in a large variety of weapons ranging from bolt action hunting rifles to full auto machine guns. If he bought the ammo from different sources or over a larger time frame no one would take notice.

Fake news.
(((George Soros))), conspiring with the Killary K. Klinton and the Muslim Brotherhood, paid trained actors to re-enact this shooting. The FBI and Deep State repressed reports that proved ISIS was responsible for the attack. Why? Because the DemocRATS and BLM thugs want to take away our guns so ISIS can invade in America and implement Sharia Law. Wake up sheeple!

Contrary to popular belief, automatic guns are NOT banned or illegal in the U.S. (unless an individual state ban is in effect).
Nevada is a state with very loose gun laws.

As tragic as this event was...at this point I am completely desensitized to these events. They have happened too frequently and too viciously for me to feel much sadness anymore.
NOTHING and I mean....NOTHING WILL CHANGE. This attack is a result of 2 things:
1. Each state having it's own different gun laws. So there is no unison among states. One state can have strict gun laws but can be surrounded by states with loose gun laws (Illinois is perfect example of this).
2. America's gun culture. The gun culture of the U.S. is too engrained (Hollywood action movies) and too toxic (NRA and 2nd Amendment "defense") for events like these to not happen...even if more gun regulations were implemented. There are MORE guns than people in the U.S. and there's not much we can do...unless there is a massive gun drive where gun owners give back all or some of their guns for money.

Also is it normal for a family to have a gun at their house?

In most states people carry their weapons concealed and yes lots of people/families have guns at their house. That's why stricter gun laws wouldn't work anymore IMHO. The weapons are already there and no one can take them out of the system again.

No, knowing the names of politicians or who they are from other countries is not current events. You have to be a strong political nerd for that (I am but only for my country). About Americans just knowing the Nazis...well, they created a lot of "attention" in the 1930 and 1940ies so no wonder they have burned themselves into the collective memory of mankind (and they make good video game and movie villains...). 8-P

Yes, he gets mentioned as much as Trump. Those claiming the Average (a.k.a "most") American is that ignorant are those who fancy themselves smarter than thou, you know what I mean? ::) Most people watch the news or receive it online, you can't really escape it now, so it would be strange for most people not to know who some world leaders are that get brought up often such as Putin and Merkel and Kim Jong Un, etc.

Person somehow survived and he is living a normal life now....
I find this all to be so sickening. And my dad, while being conservative, finds everything about this to be absolutely sickening. He agrees with my sentiment that automatic and semi-automatic weapons should be banned. Nobody should be able to under civiliian life fire 10 rounds + in one round. I am very centered on Gun Control, automatic weapons PERIOD should be banned.
This guy the more we look into it is VERY shady and this will be an investigation into an indivdual that we have not seen in depth since the Unibomber. My dad is telling me very bad things about this guy.
See my dad is a Repub, a gun defending one as well, Trump voter, not alt right, very strong on some issues, who while being biased always retracts when he finds or says something without back up. Hes the typical Trump voter, not the alt-right.....
I find this all sickening..... that CBS executive who said they had no sympathy from her because most country music fans are "gun-toting repubs".... how dare she..... thankfully CBS fired her within the hour after those comments on her FB were leaked.
We all need to come together.... and live..... and find some common ground. And while the day of a tragedy is not appropriate for Gun Control debate, the days afterwards are.... Im not getting my hopes up that two polarizing sides find common ground....
But I hope this helps us unify.... this horrible tragedy...

No, I do not think that I'm "smarter than thou" but it is well known that the average American is ignorant of a lot of things. Gosh damn...I feel like a lot of you guys are just attacking me for no reason. If you guys don't like me or my opinion...I can just leave...FOREVER.
Just...don't talk to him? It's useless and you'll stress yourself out when everything you say is met with something combative. ::)
Why would he stress himself out when he AGREES with me? ??? ::)

Well, actually he was talking about Biden when he was the VP which is true because he was not mentioned as much as Obama; however, I agree with you. It's definitely ignorant for people to assume that others don't know who the VP is or other world leaders.

It's not ignorant if it's true. I'm not saying that every American is dumb or ignorant because I'm not dumb or ignorant. However, I've watched tons of YouTube videos where people were asked who the Vice President was and they had no idea (this was a few years ago when Joe Biden was VP).

Well again, that has to do with that he was not mentioned as much compared to Obama. Every time there was news about politics, Biden would not be named.
Well hopefully, it gets situated soon. We both wanted to see your drawings that you made. :)

I only included those that made the news.
Mass shootings aside, there are gun deaths EVERYDAY. So far this year there have been 46,843 incidents and 11,721 deaths. If there were that many deaths caused by cars, everyone would be screaming for new car regulations to make them safer. But, with the all-mighty gun, that is different. We can't talk even talk about it. "Now is not the time." "Don't politicize this."
Trevor Noah says it all.

I actually don't know, but in America, is it common to ever see someone walking around or just going somewhere with a gun Because they can?
Also is it normal for a family to have a gun at their house?
maybe we should all just walk the streets carrying a gun and if someone accidentally pisses us off just shoot them.

We can't because of the 2nd Amendment and there would be tons of gun owners that would be angry and...they have guns...so yeah...that's not a good idea.

I think a big part of the "unsafe time" hype comes from that we're online 24/7 and get all the crap from the world within minutes. Brutal stuff happened since the dawn of mankind, it's just that we now get informed about it. If put into relation with the size of the population the chance to get shot is minimal.
That being said it's still advisable to be watchful and avoid certain "hot spots" during nights or carry some self defense gear. I've been doing that for a couple of years now and thankfully never needed it so far. But it gives me more confidence to have something on me just in case.

Chicago alone has more murders a year than all of Canada (762 in Chicago vs. 611 in Canada in 2016). The gun violence is out of control. :(

You're right. However, here in the U.S. right wingers love bringing up Chicago as a excuse to not implement more gun regulations because "Chicago has strict gun laws but yet look at all the murders".
Right wingers conveniently forget that all the states surrounding Illinois do not have strict gun laws (Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky). Many criminals visit those surrounding states and buy guns then return to Chicago and go on a rampage.

That is an understatement. It really p!sses me off that our Congress does nothing about it. They are owned by the NRA who is beholden to the gun manufacturers. They don't care how many people DIE in this country as long as they sell their guns and make a profit. They make people believe that they HAVE to protect themselves from the gun violence by (you guess it) owning a gun. More people buy guns and more people use the guns on people-whether purposely or accidentally. It just perpetuates itself. When gun control makes a stink, then the NRA screams that criminals won't bother to follow our laws and it just infringes on the Second Amendment of law abiding citizens (but not the part where it states "A well-regulated militia") so therefore we can't do anything and it just gets worse and worse and worse. Any other industry, safely issues are addressed. When many people died in auto accidents, the government required manufacturers to install seat belts, as well as other safety issues. When many people were getting lead poisoning, the government required that lead be taken out of gas, & paint. The list goes on. But when it comes to guns-something was is made to KILL, they can't implement any kind of safety regulations whether it be universal background checks, banning automatic & semi automatic weapons, and not allowing people stockpile weapons/ammo. I just don't understand why this country can't do a damn thing about it and just let things get worse.
Ok, rant over.

Chicago has both a gang issue and a gun smuggling issue. Those two issues combine and cause Chicago's gun violence problem.

True but something tells me dealing with the gang violence issue will yield better results than TRYING to deal with the gun smuggling issue. There's just too many people in the States who's identities are tied to guns.
