Subject: Help me get in style

Written By: 90s Guy on 09/29/17 at 9:32 pm

So here's the score; I'm 26, in Brooklyn, NY. As per my username, my style is very much stuck in the 90s; that's a no go as far as being attractive and standout is concerned. I want your help and recommendations on new threads, new hairstyles, and new lingo. Basically, what I'm going for is is a mix of things - different, utterly in styles, for different days;

Like, give me a modern version of a 70s pimp - make me look like a 2010s Caesar. What are outfits that ooze machismo without looking ridiculous? Shirts, pants, hair?

What's a good modern punk look - think the 80s muscle shirt skateboard look, but modern - what's some variation of that that exists today?

Hottest hairstyles? Hottest facial hair?

Those long capes/hoodies I see marketed as hip hop fashion, are they in? What about harem pants? Sweat pants?

I don't just want to wear a hoodie like everyone else; I wanna stand out, have flair, without looking the fool. Think Tony Manero, but updated for 2017-2018.

Help me out, please.

Just be yourself! I have no idea what styles are popular now in terms of fashion but I just wear what I find comfortable.  :P

Think of a musician/group that you like that are currently in the charts.  Take a look at some of their publicity shots/album covers/videos (do people still make those?) to get an idea of what is ''in'' for that genre.

Personally I think if you wear something to outlandish that is not something you normally wear you risk either looking foolish or trying to hide/sure people are commenting on your clothes.  I speak from personal experience here.  I don't think you can be comfortable wearing clothes just because someone else says you should.

From what I've seen in the UK, men's hair can be any length, and facial hair from clean shaven to full beards.

Exactly, just be yourself and don't be something you're not.
