Since we are little more than 3 months away from the end of the year, I have thought about what predictions you all might have.

For me, I have a few. One is that Rock could make a comeback in the mainstream. After reading that some songs this year had rock elements, there could be a revival movement underway. The second one is that people are going to start to prepare for the 2018 midterms. I think we'll see this happen by November. The 3rd one is that there might be a special celebration or a crazy day on the anniversary of Trump's historic win. The last one I have is that Trap could finally decline and be replaced with KL's style and TTC's new song.

So, what are yours?

I don't see Rock coming back until' at least late 2018.
As for predictions, I think a high-profile murder case will unfold in the next few months, maybe a break in a notorious cold case (i.e. Jonbenet Ramsey)

To be honest, I don't really think anything significant will happen in the final two months of this year. The one thing that could happen (hopefully it won't, but it's a possibility), is that the North Korea conflict could escalate to new levels between now and the end of the year. To be honest, I think something will happen at some point. It's just a matter of when, unfortunately.

In regards to rock making a comeback, it's really hard to know what direction the genre will take. None of us were expecting Harry Styles to release "Sign of the Times" back in March. Really, all it could take is another rock song in the mold of "Sign of the Times" to breakthrough into the mainstream and open up the flood gates. It could happen at any time. There have definitely been enough signs to suggest that rock is in the process of gradually returning to the mainstream. When that will be is anyone's guess. I personally don't think it will happen until at least Mid-2018, but who knows really.

Yeah, I can see that possibly happening. So far, it has happened with the Natalie Holloway case.

I really hope that doesn't happen either, but it could due to Trump's stupidity. >:(. There are times where I wish he lost last year. I rather had Bernie, Hillary or even Rubio in the WH right now. Not this clown.

As for Rock, I might not listen to it as much compared to a few genres, but it definitely had its set of fantastic songs over the years. I honestly say you and HeyJealousy are right that could most likely come back sometime next year rather this year.

I am undecided about this.  Rock probably would have died with hair metal if it wasn't for grunge saving the day.  I think any rock revival is going to have to come in the form of a new subgenre.  A band might be able to get on the charts with early '00s style pop punk, but there won't be a full-fledged revival of the genre without a new sound that excites people.

I think by late 2018 or the 2018-2019 school year music will start to sound a bit different from now. Not too drastic tho but some changes here and there. I also feel like 2017 will be the last 100% 2010's year, or to an extent, early/mid-2018. By late 2018 we should definitely be seeing some more signs of early 2020's culture.
