For me, it comes down to 2013, 2014, and 2016.  Ultimately I think 2014 takes the cake though for the worst year musically this decade.

2013 still had echoes of the early '10s even though I didn't really like the direction things starting going that year.  The entire year 2014 for music can be epitomized by one song; #Selfie by the Chainsmokers.

This year easily. So devoid of anything fresh or new, and it seems to be year in which mid 10's music staples like Trap, EDM, Neo Teen wave, etc. have run its course 8-P.

2015 was just an utter snore fest, with a few ghastly pieces thrown in for good measure, too.

2017 pop culturally is the nadir(maybe speaking too soon, there's 2018 to come 8-P), music in particular has been getting steadily worse and more derivative since the late '90s but at least the 2000s had momentary glimpses at greatness.

In fact one of the songwriters that dominated the late '90s(Max Martin) still dominates pop today, that's over 20 years.

Yes exactly, they were making fun of girls like that. That's the point of the joke. It's a reflection of society, but in an ironic way. They didn't make up the girl, they made fun of real girls who spoke like that.

2016. I actually fell out of touch with popular music at the start of last year, because I had become so disappointed over the current state of music and the complete lack of variety on the charts. Everything just felt entirely stagnant and stale; I even made a thread last year about how I thought popular culture had stagnated. There was actually less of a variety on the charts last year in comparison to this year. To put it into perspective, I have been making a "2010s Rock" compilation (which you can watch above) and there were only two "rock" songs which charted in 2016! Everything just seemed to be either EDM or trap. There was nothing else. :(

Even if it is a joke, it's still a terrible and annoying song that I hope I don't have to hear ever again. It wasn't funny to me tbh.  I disliked it in the first place and I still do. And I don't like most of Chainsmokers other songs either

I think 2017 was one of the worst years for music this decade. It almost rivals the early 2010s in terms of suckiness but the early 2010s (especially 2012) still beat it in terms of worst years in music. 2017 was a very horrible year of music for this decade and I can't believe how bad it was. Even 2016 beat it by a long shot and I thought that year was pretty bad for music too. 2017 music = Yuck!  8-P

Ofcourse not. Sorry about that. Music in 2016 was one of the best so i wouldn`t really disagree on that. Things in my personal life gave me alot of stress at the end of it and thats about the only reason why it`s my worst year of the decade. It`s not because of the music because i enjoyed the pop culture in 2016 but 2017 has been my recovery and music of this year was mainly what put me back to place. That`s why this year will always have a special place in my heart. It`s my best year since 2013-14. ::)

I don't really like music from 2010 and 2011 because of the electropop...which is a hit or miss for me. I like music from 2010 & 2011 because of artists like Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, B.O.B, Drake, Taio Cruz, Kevin Rudolph, Rihanna, Eminem, Usher, Chris Brown, Adele, CeeLo Green, Pink, Maroon 5, etc.

I think 2014 will be the most nostalgic year of the decade for me in the future, even more than the early 2010s. It had everything. Bright colourful fashion, upbeat cheesy music, hipsters, giant smartphones, the best superhero movies, the best movies in general, all the great TV shows etc. No Tramp and his frog pepe followers, best of all. Man, I'm going to miss that year. Remember at the end of the year when Sony got hacked by North Korea for making The Interview? That was hilarious. ;D
