So what year(s) do you like the best so far in the 2010s? (Culturally not personal life)
Also this obviously this wont include '18 & '19 although I'm optimistic and think those years are gonna be great.

Although I think most years this decade have been very good, my favourite would have to be a tie between 2011 and 2016.
Imo 2011 was great, it was still a very optimistic time even though the recession had just been, it was the peak of the early 2010s while still having some remaining 00's influences. I also liked how the world seemed to be a much calmer place at the time with less terrorism etc, also the music that year was great.
A lot of people disagree but I think 2016 was also great, it pretty different from 2011 though but I thought it was fun.

In all honesty, I like this decades culture. But 2011 is by far by most favorite year in the 2010's culture wise. 2017 is in second place, because I honestly believe this year has been such an amazing year for music! This is how I'd rank the 2010's based on pop culture:

2013-14 seemed like the emergence of instant social anonymous networking. A lot of people started to open up about their lives and such and I think it was what made it seem like a depressing time especially for teenagers was this change in media access. Teens were beginning to access an ever growing information and utilize a main base, at something they were not used to. Everyone seemed seemingly broody during that time period because of this newfound revelation.

Dadgum! Surprised on how many people labeled 2011 as their number 1 10's year. It was a decent year in terms of pop culture tho. Things weren't quite as bad as 2015, 2016, and 2017. Puts me in a shock at how odd 2011 felt when compared to 2017.

While I love 2010-2012 to death, I have a real soft spot for 2014. The first half of the 2010s in general (2010-2014) was very good. I was 17-21 then, perfect age to get into the pop culture. 8)

For me, those were my years in ex-gay conversion therapy and my parents completely controlling my life, despite the fact that I was 27 and 28. I went from being free and independent back to being almost a teenager. That is why I dislike them so much and its why I consider them the darkest years of my life. To be honest, I probably would have loved those years had it not been for my own personal circumstances. Those years were "peak geek" when it seemed like geek culture was cool. Also, culture as a whole was still quite a bit more socially liberal than today's culture as the right wing backlash against social justice had not quite come into its own yet.

You could slap them on the ugliest person, and I'd still fall in love. :-* Pokémon X/Y also came out that year, so everyone on campus had a 3DS. Picture that, a beautiful man, thick framed glasses, hair slicked back, wearing a sweater with a dress shirt underneath (with a peacoat in the winter), skinny jeans with a messenger bag, playing his 3DS. That was pretty much every other guy at university; I couldn't study at the library anymore. :-[

Anyway I love 2010 2011 2014 and 2017 but I think i have to go with 2010 for overall culture like movies and music but 2011 for atmosphere

I agree with this. I actually really liked that culture and it's a shame that I had to experience those years the way that I did. I had to dress as bland as possible back then and wear clothes that were a size or two too large because dressing stylish was apparently something that causes gayness. I couldn't wear any name brands back then either. Pretty much all I did for "fun" during those years was drink alone in front of my computer. My therapist encouraged me to get involved in sports because real straight men like sports and the fact that I didn't contributed to my gayness. I tried to take up Ultimate Frisbee but was humiliated because I am just not that athletic. While my life is far from ideal from 2017 and I am still in this town, things have improved substantially since 2013 and 2014.
For me, I really miss when guys wore their hair like this. I had and still have a thing for guys with this haircut.

2013 was the best year of my life, tbh. Too bad it was then followed by the second worst year ever. I would honestly say for me personally, 2016 was worse for me than 2014.

I loved Thrift Shop! That was the number one song of 2013 on the Billboard Hot 100 Year End list.

I just like each year in its own way, it's hard for me to rank them.
2010 - Everything was just exciting. After we got out of the horrendous snap rap era of the mid-late 2000s and this year was a huge breath of fresh air. Video games were awesome, TV shows like Breaking Bad were ground breaking, and the fashion was very inoffensive and slim/fitting compared to what came right before.
2011 - This is when the 2010s really came into their own and it was very exciting. Smartphones made massive strides this year, every channel was HD, and of course tablet computers and touch screens were on the rise. Pop culture is still great like the previous year. Game of Thrones came on TV and gave Breaking Bad a run for its money in the "greatest show of all time" category. The death of Osama Bin Laden and the Arab Spring gave this year a very optimistic vibe.
2012 — This was the year of pure goofy fun. If you don't take yourself seriously you'll love this year to death. It was my first /second year at university, I hit legal drinking age (19) and went to town. I remember all the dubstep and Gangnam Style and all those other hilarious fads. The early 2010s neon fashion reached its peak and you got a lot of experimental hipster elements in it too. This was the biggest advance in 2010s technology, smartphones established themselves and you had Windows 8 with the touchscreen computers, and Android finally became a serious contender with Android 4.1. TV shows and video games were as good as last year. The 2012 election was hilarious. "Mitt Romney Style", "R.Money", "Horses and bayonets" etc. I remember a lot of dictators died that year like Kim Jong Il, Gadaffi, so it similarly
had an optimistic vibe. The world felt like it was going to a better place.
2013 - this was a dark year for me personally with my sister becoming ill, but I never stopped loving the pop culture. The fashion went full hipster, it was very artsy but not at all snobbish looking. The music was very creative and we started hearing new sound. I'm not going to lie, I loved indie pop like Imagine Dragons. 2013 went down as the greatest year in television history with the Breaking Bad finale and the Game of Thrones' Rains of Castermere which is considered one of the greatest episodes in television history. Netflix got really popular this year and we had originals like House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black etc. Gay marriage started to get legalized in many countries. Rob Ford's antics were l o l.
2014 - This was a very refined 2013 for fashion. This was probably my favourite year for music. Indie pop was at its peak, a lot of great underground rock, and upbeat pop songs like Happy, Shake It Off, Uptown Funk, All About That Bass, Problem, Shut Up and Dance etc. This year along with 2012 just matched my personality perfectly haha. This was the year of the Sochi Winter Olympics and 2014 World Cup (FIFA) and those are the some of the most fun sports events I witnessed. This was the last big change year for technology, after that it started to become a bit stagnant. Uber, Airbnb, Google Play Music/Spotify, Audible are some of the things that got introduced in Canada that year. The phones also blew up in size. They're all 6 inches nowadays. And finally, this was the best year for movies.
2015 - It was largely a continuation of 2014 but with the Charlie Hebdo attack and the Refugee Crisis and the oil price crash it just had a very dark tone to it. Nonetheless the hipster fashion style reached its experimental peak, after 2015 it started to get more refined. This was the year you saw all the florals and the manbuns. Gaming started getting good again this year in my opinion after the awkward transition into 8th gen that was going on in 2013/2014 was complete. Trudeau got elected this year bringing the age of science/climate change denial in Canada to an end, and there was a huge sigh of relief! And gay marriage was legalized in the US. Hooray!
2016 — I liked a lot of the indie bands this year like Mumford and Sons (don't judge me) and Sia's Cheap Thrills is one of the best pop songs ever imo. Pokémon GO was phenomenal. I knew the fad was going to be over once the weather got cold but I soaked it in for as long as it lasted! This year topped 2013 in going down as the greatest year in television history. Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, 13 Reasons Why, Scandal, Silicon Valley etc. There wasn't anything earth shattering like in 2013 but just the sheer volume of quality TV shows there are easily gives it the crown.
2017 - this was the year I slowly fell out of touch with pop culture but its not because it was bad, I just don't turn on the radio anymore. I liked what I heard though. I've spent a good chunk of 2018 listening to 2017 rock songs actually and it's a gold mine! The video games got way better. The Switch is phenomenal. This is the biggest change year in technology since 2014 and it's starting to get exciting again. We got Google Home/Amazon Écho and digital mobile payments took off in a big way, and the phones are bezel-less. Tesla Model 3 sets a very optimistic tone for what's to come the next decade.
2018 — Not much to say for this year yet, but the fashion is becoming very refined/classy. Like 2017 I'm finding it difficult to keep up with the pop culture but there's a lot of good rock songs that came out the past few weeks.

The year I turned 18, first year college, first job, snapchat boomed, To Pimp a Butterfly came out which is top 5 albums all-time, parties with Uptown Funk, Lean On, Sorry and co.

2018 still has plenty of months to upgrade/downgrade/sustain though :)

Winter (Q1) 2018 started off really strong but this non-existent "spring" (Q2) 2018 is very average so far. :-\\

2012. I had a blast that year. Lots of partying. Lots of hanging out with friends. Things seemed like they were heading in an "indie hipster" direction. Politics were still 2010s Politics lite.
