Subject: Are Vevo pushing for rock to return?
Written By: HazelBlue99 on 08/26/17 at 11:00 am
This is something that I have been noticing over the past few months. Vevo seem to be promoting a lot of rock content, even from artists who have never been in the mainstream (i.e Hollywood Undead). Here are some of the ads I have come across:
* "Younger Now" by Miley Cyrus
* "California Dreaming" by Hollywood Undead
* "Revolution Radio" by Green Day
* "The Sky is a Neighborhood" by Foo Fighters
* An alternative rock song from a non-mainstream artist, but I can't remember their name.
Has anyone else been noticing this too? It's not due to my own search history either, because I have received Vevo ads for "Swish Swish" and I don't listen to any of the current Top 50 songs, nor do I like/listen to Katy Perry.

Try searching for some pop songs - you might see that the like-dislike ratio for many of them are rather divisive, with some especially having large dislike ratios that only poorly created videos from amateurs could match or contend with even though the latter will have far fewer views. Looks like VEVO are trying to fight that back.

Hopefully because one of the main reason this decade hasn't been quite as exciting or great in my op is because rock music went missing in action.

Lol, I don't know why people around here say rock is dead, it's very much still going and everyone's radio has access to rock stations nearby. It's not just pop music people like. There are no shortage of new rock bands at all. And did you seriously just say a song by Miley Cyrus was rock? :o Nothing she does falls under the category!

Her two newest songs ("Malibu" and "Younger Now") are considered to be pop rock.

It's not great, but I still think it's better than the majority of the other songs on the charts!

IKR! Half of the songs on the charts right now are just plain awful! 8-P

Yes all the top songs right now are not very good.I know music isn't very presentable right now and its kind of angering that we get like one good song Evey now and then.all the music I listen to is at least 10-15 years back.Let's hope music gets better or else we will be stuck.

I love that song. It's way better than Wrecking Ball IMO. I feel like the devil that was in Miley Cyrus left and entered Katy Perry. ;D
