It was a simple message of hope for the future.
As ABC’s coverage of the 1979 total eclipse of the sun concluded, anchor Frank Reynolds noted that the next one visible from the United States took place on Aug. 21, 2017.
“That’s 38 years from now,” he said. “May the shadow of the moon fall on a world at peace.”

There has never been a time in human history where the world has been at peace, however in terms of what the current state of the world is like, I think the world is less peaceful than it was in 1979.

It was in May 1979, when the UK had a new Prime Minister, for the first time a female was in charge, and she brought in changes.
