This is inspired by machine_head's thread about when he first joined inthe00s. I thought it would be interesting to do a census based on the 2010s. ;) How old were you at the start of this decade?

I was 10 years, 9 months and 19 days old.

At the start of the 2010s (January 1, 2010), I was:

10 years, 5 months, and 19 days old

29 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

I was 22 years, 7 months and 17 days old.

I was 14 years 29 days old

On January 1, 2010, I was 22 years, 5 months and 21 days old.

Honestly, it was a pretty awesome day. The only New Years Day this decade that I can really remember vividly. Went to a party that evening to welcome the new decade. Went to a sports bar the next afternoon to watch the Rose Bowl, which was an Ohio State victory over Oregon.

2010 was a great year for me. My Flying Lotus obsession began that year.

Feels like yesterday! I was at home, and my cousins were staying over. I could see the fireworks from my house, and we went to a fancy Chinese restaurant afterwards.

It does indeed feel like yesterday. Where did the time go? My family went up to the Rockies for new years eve and watched the fireworks from the town.

This decade went by in a flash, I can't believe we're almost at the end. If 2010 to 2017 was 7 years, then 2003 to 2010 felt like 50. ;D

I know right!. The 2000s felt like they went on forever but the 2010s have gone by in the blink of an eye.

I agree with this.  I was thinking about this yesterday.  It really is hard to believe that we are as far from 2010 as 2010 was from 2003.  Along those lines, we are as far from 2008 as 2008 was from 1999.  That means Lady Gaga's "The Fame" is as old today as Dr Dre's "Chronic 2001" was in 2008.  That really is mindblowing, especially since much of the culture we think about when we look back on 2010 began coming into prominence in late 2008.

Yeah, I guess it's because you were an adult for basically this entire decade, and thus your memory of it is so much better. The early '00s honestly already felt pretty dated to me by 2005 because, at the beginning of 2000, I was still just a 12-year-old kid, whereas by 2005 I had already started college. That's a huge change for just five years.

On the other hand, my life isn't that much different now than 2010, so the years seem like they're passing by much quicker lately.

I was 19-20 years of age. Pretty great year for my personal life and the music around it.

I was looking through my bathroom cabinet last night while searching for my beard trimmer and I got hit with such strong nostalgia for the weirdest things.

I found this cologne I bought in late 2009 and used to wear during my last year of high school, and the nostalgia hit me so hard. There was this sunscreen and moisturizer that I used to put on too in the spring and summer months of 2010 when I was about to graduate and probably wore to prom. They're still unfinished!

It was amazing how hard that nostalgia hit me. I could stop and actually physically feel those hormones LOL. It's kind of pathetic in a way, I cannot for the life of me get myself to throw away this expired perfume. ;D

I can't believe it's been 7/8 years. 2009 is as old now as 2001 was back then.  :o

I went to Qatar when I was 6. I don't remember it being eventful though. I had more fun in Bahrain. :P

Hot.  The running joke in the summer was that the temperature outside was over 130.

You see, the thermometer we used to give us the temperature reading maxed out at 130.  Add in 80%+ humidity and the white sand and rocks, and it was really miserable.  More than once I would call my wife at 2 in the morning there, and it was still over 110.

17 years, 10 months, and some days. Final exams later in the year.. it feels really long ago... and now I am used to do my own groceries (yay, my own food) and paying my own bills (meh).

18 years, 3 months and 12 days!
