Subject: Atari is coming out with a new home console (The Atari Box)
Written By: TheReignMan99 on 06/21/17 at 9:29 pm
Is it 1977 or 2017? Well, to Atari...it doesn't matter. For the first time in over 2 decades, Atari is releasing a new home video game console that is "PC based", it's called The Atari Box.

Here are two articles about the Atari Box:

Release date?: Not much is known as of now as for the release date. However, some have speculated that it could be in September 2017 (or more specifically September 11, 2017) because September 2017 will be 40 years since the release of Atari's iconic console, the Atari 2600 (which came out on September 11, 1977).

Well, its only shot at survival is, number one, that it's essentially a 9th Generation console with superior hardware to the PS4 and XBOX One, and, number two, that it's a successful novelty like the Wii and Switch. Atari has already attempted multiple hardware comebacks after the Video Game Crash of 1983 in the past, and they failed miserably each time. First there was the underwhelming 7800, then the lackluster handheld the Lynx, and finally the overhyped bit war fiasco, the Jaguar.
In all frankness, if Atari was serious about the Atari Box, they should've introduced it at E3, not shortly after the event.

Solid assessment. I just wish that Atari would release more info on the Atari Box.
