Subject: Should 1920s inspired fashion come back for the 2020s?

I think 1920s style fashion should come back and it would be a lot of fun. We should have some 1920s fashion revivalism.

I agree there should be new trends dominating the 2020s but I think this should also be revided. This is different from other forms of nostalgia. The difference is this is a past almost no one alive has lived. You'd have to be 100 or older to remember the whole 1920s.

No, I don't think people will have nostalgia for anything past the 1960s. The 1900s-1950s are too far back for most people to get revive fashion trends from then. One thing I would want to see revived though (not from the 1920s) is perms and other forms of big hair :P.

But that's why 1920s revivalism would be so refreshing. It would be something only people 100 and older would remember, at least when it comes to the entire decade.

It's too far in the past for most people to revive the feel of the 1920s. Especially with a lot of people wanting a more techy and futuristic future....I just don't see a 1920s revival in fashion happening in the 2020s (maybe, music but that's a HUGE maybe).

The economy sucked. But I loved the cartoons at that time. Films started having sound, and films were at one of their most creative peaks.....in history ever. I don't mind Big Band music from the 1930's and 1940's! I love the fashion and cars of that decade. They got rid of prohibition. I wasn't a fan of the flapper look for women, because it wasn't my taste. I prefer the hippie look of the 1960's for women. I would have loved the comics and radios shows of the 1930's. I would have loved dressing up for the fashion of that decade, as a guy. An amazing decade for pop culture, in my opinion.

The 1920s were wilder and funner. Less regulations at amusement parks, economic freedom, more freedom for people to have fun and act how they wanted. Sure there was prohibition but there were lots of speakeasies and places to drink. In the 1930s it was drab and everything started to be censored and restricted.

No way, 2020s is our last chance at a 1920s revival and I'm not passing it up. The unique decade can wait until the 2030s since no one wants to revive the 1930s except Le Pen voters.

Al, that's from the 1950s! I can tell because of the lack of hats, the round-collar sweaters, and those trousers are way too tight for the 1920s. :-X
edit: Oh, early 1960s! Yeah, Kennedy made it fashionable to not wear hats.

I doubt that the 1920s will be a major focus in the 2020s. The 2000s and 2010s have looked nothing like the 1900s and 1910s did. We've tried to revive swing/jazz several times over the past few decades but it has never caught on. I thin the 21st century will ultimately prove to be as different from the 20th as the 20th was from the 19th. Emulating 20th century decades is not likely to happen.

I get what you're saying but I've always noticed how the 20s...or at least the idea of the 20s...is far more popular with the masses than 1900-1919. In all my American history classes, my classmates felt like things didn't get interesting until the 20s.
You could be right. Hopefully, you are.
