Subject: Teens are getting tired of Social Media- USAToday

Voluntary reasons for teens' breaks included 38 percent who did so because social media was getting in the way of work or school. Nearly a quarter said they were tired of "the conflict and drama" and 20 percent said they were tired of having to keep up with what's going on.

I'm basically 18 and I'm kind of tired of social media but most of my friends aren't. Social media isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Social media isn't going anywhere, and that's a good thing. This unusual war on social media has been going on since the beginning. Social media is not going anywhere, it will just evolve and more new platforms will emerge.

I don't think social media, in itself, is going to die anytime soon. But the recent trend of Snapchat and selfies won't last forever

Ever since cameras have been invented....people have taken "selfies". Selfie is just a modern/current term for taking a picture of your own face.

I agree though that Snapchat will eventually die out. Popular apps like Vine have already died out.

Okay well that's different from social media in general. Those are just examples of social media apps, which of course apps get replaced by other apps and this has always happened.

Selfies will always be, but I hope people realize that not many people care to see 20 selfies of you with the same pose/clothes everyday, speaking of some of my friends on Instagram.  ???

I must confess, I don't use social media at all. I'm not just talking about Instagram and Snapchat either. I don't even have a Facebook page. :o

I used social media briefly in my late teen years. I even had a MySpace page when I was in college. But I haven't really found much use for it since 2010 or so.

As a person who doesn't really like most social media, I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't like the drama that it causes. I merely go on YouTube just to watch what I actually like, while I don't watch any video that I consider to be harmful towards my viewing history. Same goes for my Twitter, in which I unfollow people that make uncomfortable tweets.

It causes a lot of drama within certain communities on YouTube. Specifically, political ones. It's not hard finding a comment on a political video that ends as a nightmare. Literally people have so many disgusting thoughts about certain issues such as immigration, religion, and even certain races. I just avoid them immediately since I don't want to end up harassed by a racial supremacist.

I don't pay attention to trolls. There are a lot of awesome people in the comments as well.

Trust me, you're not missing out with Facebook. I rarely update mine much anymore, or thoroughly read through it. It's hard to keep up with. I prefer Instagram and Tumblr to that. I don't use those daily either.

Facebook is only good for getting in touch with friends, or even some of your idols (musicians I like have responded to my messages to them about behind-the-scenes info). Other than that, it's a pretty lame and cheesy experience.

This picture sums up Facebook's content well.

Facebook has actually changed my life for the better in some aspects. I served in the Army 25 years ago (holy crap, has it been that long already?  :-[) and I made a lot of great friends but when I got out we all just kind of drifted apart and lost track of each other. It got to the point where I more or less assumed that I'd never hear from them again.

Then, Facebook blew up about 5 years ago and one by one, my old Army buddies started showing up on FB and we all reconnected. One of the sergeants even started a Facebook group for our company. I'm grateful to Facebook for rekindling old friendships that I thought were lost forever.

Also thanks to Facebook, I've stayed in touch with all the older members of this board who  left a few years back.

Well MySpace was seen as the internet of the internet once as well and look where it ended up. I think Facebook will die eventually. All these websites usually get replaced by something else eventually.
