Subject: I think we should have a musical movement where

Actual instruments and electronics are combined like guitars and computerized music at the same time.

Personally I wish there was a musical movement which revolved only around actual instruments. No electronics.

I want the electronics added to give it an extra trippy effect like it's a giant daze or dream. With 2/3 instruments and 1/3 electronic effects

Wonder if that'll ever happened. The use of songs being entirely made with instruments has ended by the time we got to the 1980s. However, apparently artists are trying to bring back to use of actual instruments. But whether this actually leads to anything is beyond me. I don't mind the use of actual instruments as music was started with actual instruments and it should continue using actual instruments. Not just Synthesizers, Drum Machines, Sequencers, Keyboards, and Software. I'm fine with electronics as nearly all of my favorite gernes used electronics. There are sounds that you cannot achieve with actual instruments. You can't make Techno or House music (genres that are are part of the Electronic Dance Music genre). So I don't want electronics to go away entirely.

They started using real instruments during the late 70's but I think after the 1980's just about everything was electronic keyboards with sounds of instruments.

You kids need to get out more.
I go out to shows all the time. Tons of artists are still using instruments as well as computerized instruments.

I'm talking in mainstream music. People who say to go elsewhere for music don't seem to be interested in fixing the problem.

1. Pop music has always more or less sucked.
2. Physical instruments ≠ good.
3. I find these types of posts annoying because I've listened to people complain about the state of pop music since I was a child and complaining hasn't changed a thing. At some point, you gotta match your complaining with action.
4. Let's be honest. You wanna make real change? Demand everyone pay artists for their work.

Pretty much what BornIn86 says. Pop music has more or less been the same in terms of quality. People always saying that it has been bad when in reality it's just been as cringy or as good as it always has been. As for Physical instruments being better than digital sounds this is quite subjective as this is judged by the person. Since I was a kid people always complained about the music I listened to, but I realize that they're just biased or they fall into the sheep mentality of "If it's modern then it sucks". By the 2020s/2030s people will talk about how 2010s music was golden and that 2020s music sucked. The cycle doesn't end.

Exactly. You guys are just gonna have to accept that in the end, you're part of the problem. If you won't make the effort to find music you like, promote the artists to your friends, attend their shows and buy their music and merch...then the record companies and popular taste will fill that void. Period.

Hey you already know I put effort into finding music that I like. Not just mainstream, but a ton of music on Soundcloud, bandcamp, or youtube. We've literally had this kind of discussion in the 2017 Music thread. However, instead of complaining about how I want music to change I now just go around the internet and find tracks that I enjoy. There is more than just what you hear on the radio (Which to beat honest was always cringy as I rather listen to music that I've found myself rather then have a radio introduce me to music), but people just keep on wishing for a change. Music will change on its own. How I see it is if people just can't find anything to enjoy they should try to make their own music. Learn some music theory and get what they need to make some tracks.

Pop music didn't always suck. Radio in the 90s was much better than radio today. People complained sure but now things are so bad even the teens are turning away from the music. We need to protest against big radio. Because if the good artists don't get exposed no one can pay for them. There's a problem with the system. We can't just keep our heads in the sand and say go to Pandora.

I did find music I liked years back. I'm tired of having to do that and don't think I should have to for the rest of my life.

This is where the personal issues come in. You see the thing with finding the music YOU like you need to go and look for it yourself. The thing is that you'd wish the kind of music you'd like was on the radio. This a frustrating spot. You see the radio music is largely dependent on the taste of the audience. The music you find is dependent on your own tastes. If you have an issue with modern music you mainly have to blame the audience as they keep eating the radio music up. Nothing to do at this point but to wait for the next wave of music to hit. New genres, artists, vibes, and influences. But I don't expect changes for another 4-5 years.

1. Only half true. Even though there was teen pop back in 1997 and 1998, there was also adult contemporary, rock, and other stuff to hang onto. Same with the 1980's. Even though there were one-hit-wonders and shallow pop, there were other stuff to balance it out. And even the pop music of the 1980's were way better than today's.
3. I agree with this.

Many mainstream songs use a combination of "real" instruments and synths, samplers, digital software, ect.
Most pop songs have that balance(notice the heavy disco guitar influence in many songs over the past few years).
A lot of it still sucks though, ;D.
Even many trap rap songs use pianos in their instrumental makeup(it could be stock software emulation piano though but who would know the difference).

Other than some of the rock songs (that I don't hear on mainstream radio), I don't really hear the instrumentals. Can you show me these supposed trap songs with instrumentals? Everything seems almost purely computerized today with garbled voices.

I go to internet music for my fix.
