Subject: Bob Dylan wins Nobel Literature Prize
Written By: Philip Eno on 10/13/16 at 6:35 am
US singer Bob Dylan has been awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature.
The 75-year-old rock legend received the prize "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941 and began his musical career in 1959, playing in coffee houses in Minnesota.
Much of his best-known work dates from the 1960s, when he became an informal historian of America's troubles.

Great day....
My birthday AND Bob Dylan wins the Nobel Literature Prize!
Could not think of anyone better to receive it! Perhaps the most talented songwriter ever born!

The body that awards the Nobel Prize for Literature has said it has stopped trying to contact US singer Bob Dylan about being this year's honouree.
"Right now we are doing nothing," said Sara Danius, permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy.
"I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough."
Dylan has yet to comment about winning the prestigious prize last week.

Bob Dylan: Nobel Literature Prize left me speechless
http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-37806639
US singer-songwriter Bob Dylan says he accepts his Nobel Prize in literature, ending a silence since being awarded the prize earlier this month.
He said the honour had left him "speechless", the Nobel Foundation said in a statement.
The foundation said it had not yet been decided if the singer would attend the awards ceremony in December.
However, Dylan reportedly told a UK newspaper he intended to pick up the award in person "if at all possible".
The award to the star was announced on 13 October "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
However, his failure to acknowledge it raised eyebrows.
