Here's my ranking and why

2012 - Overall the best in my personal life this decade. I traveled around Europe a lot. The pop-culture wasn't too bad either, kind of a neo-1996 vibe to it.

2016 - Olympic years have always been the best years, but this one not so much. Personal life has been pretty good, did some traveling (a cruise to the Bahamas and a trip to Japan), although a close relative of mine has cancer and could soon be at the end of her life unless a miracle happens. Also it's been dark with all the events going on in the U.S., and the pop-culture just isn't as good as the years past.

2015 - I was on deployment first half of the year and saw some cool places. I also got married, and took a road trip around the Southeastern U.S. Pop-culture was mediocre with a few good songs and movies here and there. The events such as the continued Ferguson Effect, domestic terrorism, and the Charleston church shooting/Confederate Flag depate did kind of put a damper on it. As with 2016 (which was worse in this way), there was the SJW/PC culture in which people were offended over anything.

2011 - About a tie with 2015. This was a pretty fun year culturally, and with my personal life. I did some traveling, to UK, Germany (for Oktoberfest), Prague, and Romania. There was however the Arab Spring, and the major earthquake/tsunami/nuclear reactors exploding in Japan.

2010 - Not a bad year either. The pop culture was pretty good. My personal life, I was going through some relationship drama. I was living in Japan at the time, and got to travel to many cool places within the country, and to Beijing, China.

2013 - Pretty rough year in the second half, with my work situation. The pop-culture was fun though. A lot of good music and music came out that year.

2014 - Worst year of the decade, and probably worst year of my life besides maybe 1998. I was just constantly stressed out from work the entire time to the point of dealing with anxiety and depression (continuation of late 2013). The pop-culture wasn't that great either. There were a few good songs here and there, but they bring back bad memories.

My ranking was a mix of pop culture and personal life. You can tell I hate early 2010s culture and prefer the mid 2010s.  ;D As the days go on, I actually enjoy 2015 more and more. I feel like it will be a year I have nostalgia for in the future. A lot has happened in my personal life year like starting university and other events and a couple good songs and movies came out that year too. Pop culturally, 2015 wasn't as boring as 2014 and wasn't as horrible as 2016.

Book it. Why do you not like 2012?

2012 was an awful year for me both in personal life and pop culture. I fell into a bad depression that year. I also couldn't stand the washed out music of 2012 and 2011 wasn't that great either pop culturally. I can actually say 2012 was the absolute worst year of my life and there won't be any year in the future that will be worse than 2012 for me. But then 1 year after that, I had the best year of my life which was 2013. Funny how that works out.

Kesha was what the early 2010s were made of. She was so quintessential during that era. I really miss her music back then, because she at least put in some spice into this decade.

Personal Life:

2016: Has been the best year of my life so far this year, I have made a lot of friends in nontraditional ways by being a roller coaster enthusiast, I have morphed into a person that I want to be, MYSELF..... not some facade of somebody I want to be.... or am expected to be. I got a job, Succeeded in school the second semester with no grade below 80% other than Latin in Q3 and Q4. Summer is the best summer I have had yet. I confronted a part of me that I had been in denial about for a while and I realized may things. Thank God for this year quite honestly.

2014: The most dramatic improvement YOY in my personal life came in this year, early 2014 was spent recovering from a HORRIFIC year that was 2013. By April-May 2014, I had completely recovered.... my life that summer got a lot better, my family was finally in a stable situation, FINALLY after THREE LONG YEARS. I started high school, branched out who I talked to, but at the same time was pandering a bit too much to the popular kids and ignoring some of the real issues that I was dealing with, which most of those problems would confront me full on in 2015, but I first branched out my music interests, I became absolutely infatuiated with Mariah Carey's music this year despite her flop of an album MIMTEC. Pop culture however just became horrible!

2010: This was the absolute last year I felt like a child.... I grew up too soon as result of the events in the next three years. Still lived in my old house.... still was completely innocent.... first year I truly was involved with pop culture.
2015: This year was just meh.... just blah.... I lost two friends this year.... I tried and failed to be apart of the football team, with me already slipping into a slight depression in Early August due to being sick ALL the time, Threw up on my first day of sophomore year of high school, and then I had a three day long (yes, you read that correctly) fight with my best friend at the time and fell out with him until December. My depression deepened in September due to losing my Great Grandma, I gained about 20 pounds in weight, I bottomed out in early October.... was at the bottom for a while until a GREAT last month of the year literally shifted my perspective back to optimism and out of depression.

2011: The year I made the worse mistakes in life, moving to St Johns among other things... moved out of our house we had lived in for a long time... I was so upset, but despite that still felt like a child.
2012: Despite me going to Kings Island a lot and trying to enjoy life, my family was thrown into absolute turmoil..... turmoil that would last two years and culminate with the events of 2013..... personal life sucked, gained a lot of weight...

2013: WORST YEAR EVER...... EVER..... My parents were unemployed for about 8 months, we were living in poverty for a little bit, my parents seperated and nearly divorced, my dad attempted suicide, everyone in my family except me in depression.... it was hard. It was starting to look better by the end but it was getting better. but still, the worst year ever.

2012 - I think it was alright, I don't know. I was looking forward to this film and I kinda enjoyed one of the new songs from this year.
2016 - not much going on here, but at least I'm an adult at this year
2015 - first year of sixth form, which is a break compared to secondary (somewhat)
2014 - dunno why it's here; I guess it's because it was the last year of secondary for me (UK)
2010 - not much happened then, I think.
2011 - lost some files on my memory stick; fortunately, was able to recover the album I ripped with which I lost the CD for
2013 - long hair on guys died, I felt like all the new music they were offering was crap (or probably the year after, IDK), and this was the first time I practically stopped looking forward to anything; I still have such an attitude.
