Professional wrestler Hulk Hogan has testified on the opening day of his $100m (£70m) legal action against the US website Gawker over its publication of a sex tape in 2012.

Hogan - whose real name is Terry Bollea - described how his life was turned “upside down” by the publication of the tape, which showed him having sex with the then-wife of his best friend, DJ Bubba “the Love Sponge” Clem.

Hogan said his friend had pressured him into sleeping with Heather Clem and had installed a secret camera in the bedroom where the footage was recorded.

Gawker's lawyers say the publication of the video was intended as a piece of public interest journalism. 

Why is he just now suing, nearly 4 years later?  Waiting this long makes me wonder if he's doing it for attention.  He's not exactly popular anymore.

The National Wave was a campaign that was headlined by Hulk Hogan.  It was to be launched in the town of Freedom PA on July 4, 2008.  For 15 minutes, people across the country would set aside their differences and wave their "National Wave Uniting Towels".  8)

My thought at the time is that it was really a scheme to sell lots of cheap towels.  ;D
