Subject: Ken Watanabe reveals cancer diagnosis

Ken Watanabe, the Japanese actor known for his roles in The Last Samurai and Inception, has revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last month and is having to postpone plans to return to Broadway.
The 56-year-old actor said he had undergone laparoscopic surgery after cancer was found at "a very early stage".
Watanabe, who received an Oscar nomination for his role opposite Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai, had been set to reprise his Tony-nominated performance in The King and I at New York's Lincoln Center in March.
"I would like to ask for your understanding that the start of my performance in New York will be a little delayed," he said in a statement.
