Subject: Dominic Cooper to play The Libertine on stage
Written By: Philip Eno on 01/29/16 at 8:57 am
Lock up your daughters - Dominic Cooper is to play debauched 17th Century rake the Earl of Rochester in a new production of The Libertine, at the Bath Theatre Royal.
Johnny Depp played the role of John Wilmot, the second Earl of Rochester who must reconsider his legendary appetite for excess when he falls in love with an actress, in a 2004 big screen adaptation.
The play will run from 31 August to 17 September prior to a London West End transfer to the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 22 September to 3 December.
Dominic's previous stage credits include The History Boys and Phedre, alongside Dame Helen Mirren, while his film credits include Mamma Mia! and The Duchess.
