I really enjoyed music during this year. It had it's down moments during the summer time, but things were pretty great for the most part. Best year of the decade so far, and I think next year will be even more of an improvement. We really have come a long way and picked ourselves back up.

I think this year for music especially the 2nd half of 2015 has been massive improvement over the last 2 years. (including 2013 which was an overrated year for music)

I need to update my Spotify playlist pronto.

And those two years themselves have been a large improvement over 2012. As a matter of fact, 2012 was really the only majorly sour year for music.

2015 was a good year for music, especially in the US chart for Canadian artists.  The week of October 10, the Top 10 of the Billboard US Hot 100 looked like this ...

The aforementioned Aleesia Cara also had a BIG hit with 'Here', plus Drake and Justin Bieber had a bunch more hits as did Shawn Mendes.  Say what you will about Justin Bieber, but I thought his song 'Sorry' was fantastic!  I first heard that song before I knew it was him, and after I found out, I didn't really care.  Catchy songs are still catchy songs!

This is exactly how I feel about "Demi Lovato - Confident". The girl is obviously not one of my favorite artists but man that song is catchy and dreamy as hell. There are some songs here and there where the instrumental is so amazing that you don't care about the lyrics in the music.

"Lean On" was also the number #1 song of the year in the Netherlands.

Here's another song I personally think was one of the best of 2015 along with the others listed.

Wiz Khalifa kills it again! A lot of his dreamy & catchy songs seem to get stuck in your head a lot.

Personaly I think that from 2008 onwards mainstream music has sucked big time, with only a few exceptions. Hell, even before then music generally sucked, but there were more decent songs being made.

We all have different taste, but I really enjoyed the electro-pop and hip-hop/R&B music from 2009 & 2010 the best, and I think late 2013/early 2014 was a decent stretch for music as well while the 2nd half of 2015 was surprisingly good.

TBH I don't see your point, because the mainstream music from the mid 2000's wasn't anything special either if you're referring to all of that emo/punk music, and the very early 2000's teen pop music was overrated as hell.

Yeah, everyone has different tastes, but it just seems to me like the mainstream nowadays is seriously lacking in talent and originality. I was NEVER an emo :) In my opinion 2005 - 2007 were the the best years for mainstream hits since the millenial era - 50 Cent, Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly Furtado, Akon, Timberland, The Arctic Monkeys, etc. I just get a little nostalgic, but yeah, there was plenty of crappy music back then as well...

The 2005/2006 school year produced more downright unlistenable songs that became hits than practically all other years combined.  I'm dead serious (well, maybe 2006/2007 is close, but it was better on other fronts).  Usually, I'm not especially critical of popular music and only consider today's music extremely mediocre rather than cancerous, but much of what came on the radio during 7th grade made me wonder if other teens my age had completely lost their mind.  If it wasn't insultingly dimwitted ("My Humps," "Axel F," "Don't Cha," "Grillz," etc.), it was disgustingly crass and unpleasant ("Laffy Taffy," "Lean wit It, Rock wit It," "Grind with Me," "Your Body," "Snap Yo Fingers," "Stay Fly," "It's Goin' Down," "U and Dat," etc.).  It's too bad I didn't grow up in the UK instead, because during the 2005/2006 school year, they got lots of great electronic dance music in addition to the good songs that were hits in America, and they missed out on most of the horrible snap music that drove me away from top 40 radio altogether.

Yeah, that snap crap was unbearable, but swag is even worse  8-P

Personally I would say the 2013-2014 school year was the downright worst for music, but 2005-06 was close behind it.  Most of the decent songs from 2005 were from the early part of the year.  Music in late 2005 and early 2006 was pretty awful.

I understand your opinion, but I actually thought the 2013-2014 school year (or late 2013-mid 2014) was better than the 2012-2013 school year (which was the worst for me). Matter of fact, I blame late 2012-mid 2013 period for the awful teenybopper artists that came around. Miley Cyrus- We Can't Stop and Lorde- Royals were annoying as hell. We all know you hate 2013 music, but the latter half of 2013 offered these two albums which were great for me.

Yeah, the Katy Perry album was a bright spot of late 2013, an era where songs like "The Fox" and "#Selfie" dominated.  Personally, I see that as her best album. Macklemore's "Same Love" was also an excellent song from that time period.

I actually liked a lot of songs from the 2012-2013 school year, including "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus.

???

I hated that song! I actually thought Party in the U.S.A. (2009) and Can't Be Tamed (2010) were some of the only good stuff Miley Cyrus ever made.

Another song I couldn't stand from the 2012-13 school year was Selena Gomez- Come and Get It  8-P

Now what I'm about to post I know will have A LOT of controversy, but I remember TONS of guys jamming to this song throughout senior year! and so many girls were annoyed it was fun!  ;D

Edit: I did enjoy Spring and Summer 2012 for music though.

Yeah I'm with you on Salena Gomez - "Come and Get It."  "Party in the U.S.A." and "We Can't Stop" were the only two Miley Cyrus songs I liked.  The 2012-13 school year had a lot of crap, but I thought there were some good stuff.  "C'Mon" by Ke$ha was one of my favorite songs from that year.

"We Dem Boyz" was a good song.  I almost forgot about it.  In my town, guys in their huge lifted trucks flying confederate flags would blast it.
