The film"Overlook Hotel", directed by Mark Romanek, has never materialised, but a film, which serves as a sequel to the film adaptation of The Shining "Doctor Sleep" has.

I think he’s retired. He could not remember his script lines any more.
I don’t think that Scatman Crothers will be reprising his role either.

That is interesting, for Scatman Crothers sadly died back in November 1986.
