X Men star Nicholas Hoult has landed the lead role in JD Salinger biopic Rebel in the Rye.
The actor, who will also star in the upcoming Kill Your Friends, will explore the Catcher in the Rye author's rebellious youth and life on the front line during World War Two, as well as his love life and writing career.
Danny Strong is directing the film from his own screenplay, which has been adapted from Kenneth Slawenski biography's JD Salinger: A Life.
The Catcher In The Rye, first published in 1951, is a tale of teenage angst and has become one of the most influential American novels of the modern era.
But Salinger shunned the fame it brought and became a recluse. He died in 2010.
