Subject: Frank Langella returns to Broadway
Written By: Philip Eno on 08/06/15 at 12:48 pm
Three-time Tony winner Frank Langella will be back on Broadway next spring in the title role of The Father.
The play, a study of dementia by Florian Zeller, has garnered acclaim in Europe, winning France's Moliere award for a new work of theatre.
A recent British production - described by Telegraph critic Dominic Cavendish as an "acute, absorbing and distressing portrait of dementia" - is to have a run in London's West End later this year.
Previews of the Broadway version will begin in late March, with an opening night set for 12 April at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre.
Langella - who previously starred in the award-winning Frost/Nixon - was last seen on the Broadway stage in Terence Rattigan's Man and Boy in 2011.
