Subject: Mutant daisies found near Fukushima four years after nuclear disaster
Written By: Philip Eno on 07/23/15 at 5:37 am
This picture of mutant daisies is said to be from from near the Fukushima nuclear plant which was all but destroyed in the Japanese tsunami in 2011.
But are they real? People are divided.
They were posted on Twitter by @san_kaido in May with the words: ‘The right one grew up, split into 2 stems to have 2 flowers connected to each other, having 4 stems of flower tied belt-like. The left one has 4 stems grew up to be tied to each other and it had the ring-shaped flower. The atmospheric dose is 0.5 μSv/h at 1m above the ground.’
They pictures are almost certainly from Fukushima, but don’t necessarily show mutation due to radiation.
There’s a chance that they have experienced what’s known as fascination or cresting as a result of a hormonal imbalance. Yes, plants have hormones too.
Here’s another example of it happening in Island Park, Idaho.

8-P That left flower seems kinda creepy. If Japan's going to get more nuclear bullsheesh, then they need to do something so they can defend their own country.

I work within sight of two nuclear power reactors and (egads!) the largest coal fired power plant in Pennsylvania.
No mutant daisies spotted here. :)
Can't wait for the new natural gas refinery plant to get constructed down the road, too. 8)
