Subject: Why does everyone in America seem to only like rap and country?

Those are like my least favorite genres and everyone seems to love either one or the other! ;D

I know rap is popular, but where are you getting the country part from? ???
Not that I think country is horrible or anything like that, but I hear various rock, pop, r&b and rap mosre often than anything else.

I can only take country in very small dosages-VERY SMALL and rap? Well, let's put it this way... 8-P 8-P 8-P 8-P Ok, to be fair-there may be one or two rap songs that I like. Definitely my least favorite genres.

I have a 'meh' feeling about country music, but country singing men are usually very, ahem, ahem, attractive. They possess good genes or something. 8)
As for rap, I don't mind it, I kind of half like it, and half dislike it.

The popping relieves the tension?
Speaking of popping. Isn't 'pop' a music genre?

And generally the same, i.e., around three minutes long, regular beat, three chords or so, easy to follow or perform, etc.

Yes, you could say that.

You must not be hanging around people with better taste in music! :o I know plenty of people who'll listen to rock and alternative, 80's music, and pop that isn't rap. If I listen to rap it's almost strictly last decade's material or from the 90's.

I hate rap (80s is okay, it was still music) , I hate country. (except Reba. Reba is cool.) :)

You should have added electronic music as well. Answering the question, I like modern country more than modern rap, although modern country is a bit too "safe" these days. Most modern rap is awful.
I really love '90s rap and I enjoy '90s country as well. My favorite '90s country artist I would have to say is LeAnn Rimes. She had some really great music!
I also enjoy '70s country as well. I don't think I've heard any country songs from the '80s though (was country even popular in the '80s?). I might have heard '50s and '60s country as well.
Some '80s rap is pretty good as well, though I don't like it as much as the '90s.

Cuz they're the only genres with consistent integrity in the past few decades.
