In the 2000s I spent more time watching TV than on the 'net (I had dial-up). These days, I could live without TV, I'm usually just on my computer all the time.
I loathe watching online... I absolutely cannot live without my TV

there's nothing to watch these days. when I was little we had some videos recorded of things like Blazing Saddles, but there's nothing like that these days.

I watch more stuff online than I do the TV. I hang around TCM, and Travel Channel mostly, with PBS on Sundays. Oh, and food net.
But other than that, I'm hooked to Youtube, Hulu or something else. :)

I love watching shows online, it keeps me away from what's happening on TV, it's either good or bad news.

Of course. I watch TV online only to catch up on things that I've missed - which happens rarely because I don't watch TV that often anyway. I've never even used Netflix, or similar movie-streaming devices.

In terms of TV that comes on at a scheduled time and isn't live, much less so than compared to previous decades, thanks to DVRs and streaming online. Even other live programming such as news and talk doesn't grab the same audience as it once did thanks to similar online/streaming alternatives. That said, sports and a few special events such as award shows, political events such as elections and inaugurations, and holiday celebrations such as New Years' still captivate to tune in since those are best experienced live and are keystone moments.

There was a time about 30-35 years ago when we used to watch a lot of TV and this was way before DVR's and online streaming, watching TV used to be so addictive.

Watching TV was addictive even 10 years ago. Now not so much because of growth of the Internet.
