Subject: Johnny Depp's dogs face death in Australia
Written By: Philip Eno on 05/14/15 at 4:06 am
Actor Johnny Depp has been told he has until Saturday to remove his dogs from Australia or they will be put down.
Depp and his wife, Amber Heard, are accused of breaking import laws by not declaring Yorkshire Terriers Boo and Pistol to customs when they flew into Queensland by private jet last month.
Australia has strict quarantine laws to prevent the accidental import of animal disease and infections.
Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said the laws applied to everyone.
He said Boo and Pistol had been "snuck in" to Australia and were discovered when they were taken to a dog groomer.
"Mr Depp has to either take his dogs back to California or we're going to have to euthanise them," he told reporters on Thursday.
"He's now got about 50 hours left to remove the dogs. He can put them on the same charter jet he flew out on and fly back out of our nation."

It's all a misunderstanding. Depp is always holding those silly dogs. We just want him to put them down!
Seriously ... those dirty dawgs are getting out of town by sunset! ... or face the consequences. Actually, same rules as for Brits!! :P

Johnny Depp could face up to 10 years in prison or a A$340,000 (£172,000) fine for allegedly taking his two dogs into Australia illegally, a senate committee has been told.
That's the maximum sentence for illegal importation, according to ABC.

Actress Amber Heard has avoided a conviction for illegally taking her dogs into Australia. Ms Heard, married to actor Johnny Depp, had pleaded guilty in court to making a false statement on her immigration card about the couple's Yorkshire terriers. But the Queensland judge gave her a one-month good behaviour bond with no conviction recorded. If she breaks the bond she must pay A$1,000 ($770; £540).
