I don't see gauges that much anymore. If anything, no one gets new ones. Everyone that has them seems to have them for awhile.

Anyways, now that it's really warm people are dressing differently. On guys, I see a lot of light-colored button-downs, polos, graphic tees, camp shirts, jeans (in rainy weather), short shorts (like mid-thigh on average), chinos, joggers (those things are everywhere!), tank tops, basketball shorts, vans, and most of all, boat shoes. Those things are ubiquitous where I live!

On gals I see booty shorts, a-line dresses (about knee-length, tight on top), loose tank tops, wedge heels, ankle boots, pumps, animal prints, scoop-neck tops, skinny jeans, and mini skirts. The dresses are what I see most, but the second most common look this spring is so far the loose tanks, booty shorts, and wedge heels.

Then again I live in the south where fashion is more conservative for the most part.

Every store I entered last week.. flowers. Pants, dresses, shirts, jackets, everything with flowers. Last time these were everywhere was the late 90s if I remember well.

flower patterns and butterflies seem to be a UK trend at the moment.

playsuits, harem pants and maxi dresses are in.  also floaty short dresses worn with black leggings and short 'skater' dresses in what I think of as old lady dress material (heavy brocade type)

I'll see younger women wearing loose dresses and leggings. I'm also seeing more and more crop tops and everything has zig zag patterns on it now. Shorts are either high rise, or cut offs with the pockets hanging out.

I see a lot of double denim on males and females at my college. Acid washed jeans on black girls.
I've also seen some girls wear pretty early 90s looking neon spring coats. Lots of graphic T's, Superhero related T's seem a popular choice.
Lots of those tiny manbun ponytails on guys. A lot of high top  fades akin to the early 90s on black guys and some large afros.

Nautical strips---though I think it's a classic print.  Still don't like it because it reminds me of prison stripes.

Fluorescent pink/neon coral---not crazy about this shade, though I do like fuchsia which seems to be making a comeback.

Bright tops/dresses, especially paired up with a black look---like this look especially in that neon purple (violet?) shade that is seen on one of those glow necklaces that you find in amusement parks.

Rain boots---need that out here in the Pacific Northwest.

Gladiator shoes

I think the decade is too individualistic to pinpoint any widespread, mass appeal trends. There are a few; joggers, vans (white ones), tank tops, crop tops, and jean hot pants. I don't wear any of these, and as a guy I definitely don't wear the girls' stuff. I notice on this website people tend to mention the blandest, most unappealing stuff. But really, most people don't make an effort to keep up with the latest styles.

Every decade has a lot of smaller trends, but usually there is a 'look' to them all, that's why you can look at a picture and tell what era it's from just by looking at it. 2010s is no different, if anything it has one of the strongest identities of them all.

Anyway, what I've noticed is recently is that bootcuts on guys is making a comeback, and I'm starting to see more women with leather jackets.

Yes! The 10's I'd associate with jeggings, skinny pants, oversized sunglasses, partially shaved heads, long beards, man buns, funky colored hair, colorful athletic shoes, zig zag prints, scarves. Basically some thought into appearance and alot of accessorizing.

The 2000's was all about athletic clothing, flared jeans, hoop earrings, bleach blonde hair, obvious brand names, surfer beads, the preppy look, and a time when subcultures had very distinct fashions without much crossover.

The 90's was more bland with a more t-shirts and jeans preference than anything else. Mom jeans, perms, and mullets. Accessories involved alot of yin yangs and peace signs. That's by my observation.

I don't think that's always a good thing. It's one thing to put thought into one's appearence, but the 2010s are doing it all wrong in my opinion, especially with the trends listed. I know many people will disagree with me, but I don't find 2010s fashion appealing at all. There's no real aesthetic to it, in my eyes. I'd take 90s and 00s fashion over 2010s fashion, any day.

I haven't noticed this where I'm from. Then again I live in the Silicon Valley, which is probably one of the most quintessential mid 2010s areas in America. So people are pretty much wearing the same stuff they did in 2014-2015.

I don't define time periods by average, everyday clothing styles. I always define periods by what the very few are wearing. I always look at the designer fashions, as well as the newest looks. They obviously have to catch on in the real world, but very few people are willing to spend money to look good. That's always been the case. I'm not going to label time periods by $50 jeans, $30 sneakers, and $10 t-shirts. If you want to actually look good you have to be spending big bucks on these ropas! $100+ for pants and shirts and certainly that much for shoes is certainly not unusual. You could easily spend $200 for a pair of shoes of good quality that look good and last long. In the '90s, this mostly applied to just aesthetically pleasing clothes - in the 2010's, this applies to attractive and quality clothing. In the 20th century, clothing companies put a lot more emphasis on craftsmanship (meaning better made clothing from the fabric to the stitching to the overall construction) than mass production. That mindset died with 1999.

People are not willing to spend that kind of money to look nice. I'm not one of them, I can easily spend over $200 a month for just two or three pieces of clothing, but most people will resist spending over $75 for an entire outfit. It is this reason as to why I don't define the '90s by grunge fashion and the '10s by hipster fashion. It was never supported by designers in the first place - with the exception of Marc Jacobs in Spring/Summer '93. That scraggly scruff and those lumberjack beards? That was counterculture - it was never mainstream. That was popular - not actually hip. There is a difference.

As for me, I buy a lot of my clothing from Saks Off 5th, sometimes even the big S itself if I'm in the mood to treat myself. Designer brands are not out of my league. I revel in the feeling of trying on a high quality shirt with fringe seams and exceptionally treated fabrics. Cashmere sweaters are paradise on earth. Almost all of the pants that I buy at these locations already fit so well by default that I don't even bother trying to contact a tailor. In the 2010's, the age of fast fashion, you really do get what you pay for. Ever since 2000, "moderately priced" clothing means so-so quality. I pay a lot of money, so I get a lot out of my clothes.

Fashion is not supposed to be accessible - it never was. It was meant for the people willing to spend the time finding what they're looking for, the money to buy the duds themselves, and for those that had the guts and the confidence to sport them in public.

While I'm at it, people should be willing to pay money for haircuts as well. $40-50 is not unusual. If everyone were willing to go to a salon or a barber shop they would cut your hair so much better than a place like Great Clips.

The only boy nurse in dialysis looks something like this. I've just never been a huge fan of facial hair on men. A pencil mustache and that's about all I can stand. I grew up on the likes of Clark Gable, and George Brent. I appreciate a trim mustache or a clean shaven man. LOL.

I'm really struggling with the 70s/90s revival happening. I can't hang with it and really the only thing I like is the dark lip colors, because I want to try that more. But I'm trying because I'm trying to be asked on a date and if putting on a plum or berry lipstick helps, then NYX Cosmetics can have my 6 dollars.  ::)

While I'm at it, people should be willing to pay money for haircuts as well. $40-50 is not unusual. If everyone were willing to go to a salon or a barber shop they would cut your hair so much better than a place like Great Clips.

You can look nice if you find what's flattering and fits correctly. Most people don't have hundreds to spend at a time on an outfit. I've bought pairs of Silver brand name jeans before and guess what? They don't all fit nicely or stretch out as the day goes and get baggy. But they cost up to $100 some of them! I've bought the house brand jeans at the same place the Silver's came from and ended up with a better fitting pair, cheaper. Proof that you don't always get what you pay for. I get my hair trimmed and can go to a beauty school or use a coupon for Great Clips and call it good. I don't get my hair "done." My makeup while not designer, is good quality. I do own some Urban Decay and Too Faced items and absolutely cannot cheap out on foundation. I can find a cute dress to wear, throw on a nice scarf or statement piece necklace, put on makeup and straighten my hair and it's all good. Not everyone is made out of money.

At least you're not my age during this era.

I see more and more women with flared jeans/trousers. Not the early 00s ones, but new ones, slightly cropped. It's back.. again.

I wonder if I'll see that here soon in the summer. The weather is still too cold for cropped jeans.

Thanks! I like it. Took forever to get it off after I took the pic. LOL.

What color lipstick is that?

It's a very dark brown with a subtle gold shimmer.  :)

I've been seeing very dark lipstick that's either so burgundy it's almost black or purple lipstick. Neither one would look good on me, I'll stick to reds and pinks.

Those stupid undercuts and quiffs, or rather, fake Jewfros or something. The only time a guy can suit something close to an undercut is J. J. Jameson

Speaking of caps, they've sorta phased out the snapbacks, but the ones replacing them aren't as good as these:

Eyeliner's also a bit pathetic, but I guess it's kinda better than what we had in the 2000s in a way:

I think it's because Justin Bieber in 2010 and 1D started it off, damn them.

Then how are you supposed to wear eyeliner? I do a sort of cat eye thing with mine when I wear it, makeup should be fun to experiment with.

That hairstyle must be hard to maintain.

If you're talking about Bieber's newer hair, then not really. Shave the sides and use a bit of gel or let it curl up.

Back in the day where Beiber's old hair style was seen as iconic. I remember the shock that everyone had when they realized that he changed his hair style.

When Justin Bieber became popular, his hairstyle completely died out. It was anti-iconic lol.
