No surprise to see Avengers: Age of Ultron remain top of this week's UK and Ireland box office chart, or that it left the competition flailing in its wake.

The latest instalment in Marvel's seemingly unstoppable superhero saga made £8.59m between Friday and Sunday.

That was around six times what Carey Mulligan's Far From the Madding Crowd film and chatroom horror Unfriended (pictured) made over the same period, and 17 times more than animated caper Two By Two, another new release.

Here's how this week's top five panned out.

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron (£8.59m)
2. Far From the Madding Crowd (£1.45m)
3. Unfriended (£1.34m)
4. Fast & Furious 7 (£1.11m)
5. Home (£0.73m)
